Worst Teachable Moment Ever: Bill Maher

“[I] was reading all week on blogs, people are upset of course, not only for the right reasons, that this IMF guy DSK, did what he did but also because he’s apparently a socialist, you know,” Maher said. “And not like Obama. He’s an actual socialist – not like a fake socialist. And they’re saying, ‘Well, he was, say, staying in a $3,000-a-night hotel suite, what a hypocrite.’”

Those standing to learn from this scandal are, according to Maher, so-called “teabaggers,” a euphemism employed by many on the left to describe Tea Party movement activists, and perhaps Americans more broadly who have a misunderstanding of what socialists do.

“This could be a teaching moment, could it not for the teabaggers?” Maher declared. “Or maybe all of America – who don’t understand that socialism doesn’t mean we’re going to come to your house and make you work on a collective farm. You know, in Europe, socialism is just another political party and it doesn’t mean that we’re against making a profit. It just means that government takes over certain things like hospitals and prisons, and the military, schools – and things that should not be run for profit.”

We could take this moment to show all those people we call pejorative phrases that having a socialist banker living high on the hog while being charged with attempted rape is a really good time to educate about what being a socialist really means.

Next up Bill proposes that while we educate victimized women on proper condom use after they've been raped and the hospital is using the rape kit to collect evidence.

I mean seriously, talk about a one track mind and an inappropriate time. How demented does a person have to be to see an article about the head of the IMF being accused of attempted rape and....yes here is the thought process.

Hmmmm..... this banker staying at a $3000 a night hotel, he's accused of rape and oh apparently several paragraphs down it notes his a socialist. Well..... hmmm.... let me see, the problem isn't the room, the attempted rape, the fact that he's a banker, no the problem is that there are uninformed tea baggers out there and we can use the fact that they might read about an attempted rapist to educate them about the real nature of socialism which by the way doesn't endorse attempted rape but is just fine with $3000 a night hotel rooms so let's press forward with that information.

Bill, contact your dealer and tell him he's got to stop selling you the strong stuff your buying because apparently your brain can't handle it any more. I mean there isn't even anything in there that resembles a lucid thought. The good guys are so clearly delineated in your mind and reality is so unwilling to be applied that you are talking about educating people who want less spending using the example of extravagant person accused of attempted rape. It's crazy because in your world the folks not staying in $3,000 a night hotel rooms and not attempting rape, well they are the bad guys.

You miss the point, as usual.

That is a little silly. But I'm curious about your view of this allegation trumptman. She probably should have been dressed less slutty? It's probably a false allegation? It was probably mutual but feminists have muddled her concept of consent?

Since your points is profanity fueled tirades, I'm more than happy to miss that.

The allegation will be determined by the courts and a jury. The main point that Bill Maher can only think about educating tea party members while reading about alleged rape, remains.

Bill's now down to getting booed by his own audience when declaring a Republican presidential candidate's husband is hoping to be sodomized.

You're clearly hitting the bottom of the barrel Bill. Perhaps you and Geoge Lopez can go do a show together and see who can hate the most!

Another "surplus to requirement" thread.
