And...defeaning silence from the left. This was an interesting one to say the least. A few thoughts:
First, people have affairs and what not, but really you used SOCAIL MEDIA...as a sitting, married congressmen? That has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
Secondly, yesterdays double-press conference was bizarre, wasn't it? Andrew Breitbart took over Weiner's scheduled conference before Weiner himself got there. He was grilled on his "involvement" and made it clear that he didn't publish the story until Weiner claimed he had been hacked. I happened to catch him speak, and I enjoyed it. He was accused of blackmail at one point, and pretty much crushed those that followed that line of questioning.
Third: I know people lie "to protect their families." But as I suspect many do, I have a little trouble with this kind of lying. He even had what amounted to a press day at his office where he conducted interviews and lied in premeditated fashion. He conducted multiple personal interviews where he lied to the interviewer's faces! I don't know...am I supposed to believe he only lied about this? To me, the way he did this exceeded Clinton's "massaged" interviews and single false statement to the nation. this guy met with people one-on-one and lied to their faces. I don't see how the press (or anyone) will ever believe him about anything again.
Fourth, I caught a few moments of Breitbart being interviewed this morning. He was asked about whether or not he thought Weiner should resign. He didn't really say (as he refused to yesterday), but he did say something I agree with (paraphrased). "[If someone out there has explicit photos of him, he's going to want to keep that under wraps. Look at the lengths he went to last week to keep his posture and standing. It's not implausible that in this compromising position, he could be asked for money or political considerations to maintain his position. Maybe someone wants him to alter a bill or pay $100,000 or what not...he's in a very compromised position.]"
Lastly, the double-standard here is pretty blatant. Rep. Lee of NY has a photo with his shirt off as he responded to a Craigslist ad, and he resigns basically before the story even comes out. The Ween-Man had electronic relationships for several years, with explicit details that came out (chats and photos and what not)...but he vows to stay in office. When Democrats cheat, they get sympathy and their behavior is excused. But Republicans? They resign in shame. And that's the expectation the media has set up. Pathetic.
