iPad charger

This may be a dumb question, but i would rather ask then mess up my gear. I just bout a new wall charge for when i travel. it has 4 usb ports and will cover my phones & ipod. Will the 5W charger damage the battery in my ipad? i know it uses a 10W wall charger, but wanted to check. from what i have read online, it will be fine, but charge at 1/2 the normal rate.
