Printing to PDF in OS X: Are fonts embedded?

Hi,

Just wondering whether there are any options to embed fonts when printing to a PDF file. I'm finding that a lot of my pdffed word documents end up looking real screwy (colors, fonts) when viewed by windows users.

I'm no pre-press expert, can anyone recommend the best way to get pdfs that look great anywhere?

If you stick to TrueType fonts in your docs that should help a lot i'd think ...?

All's I'ms usings is Times New Roman, Courier, Ariel, Helvetica. The bland stuff that comes with OS X.

Lots of graphics though. Do they get compressed?
