I am doing a school project about buying a new computer. My computer of choice was a Mac for its graphic qualities because I am going to school to be a graphic designer. After figuring out what kind of system requirements there were on the software I will be using, I have found I will need either a G3, G4 or G4 dual processor. Well, I don't really need a dual processor and would like to not have to pay for it if I don't have to. However, I cannot find any information about the PowerMac G3 or a single processing G4. Which leads me to believe that my failure to have knowledge about Macintosh computers has yet again screwed me over. *sigh* Well, if anyone can please point me in the direction of a webpage where I can find the system specifications and also some pricing information for a PowerMac G3 or a PowerMac G4 (single processor might I remind you), it would be very very much appreciated!

Click on 'store' tab. Drool.
Plenty of nice machines with fair specs.
Sounds like a new imac is up your street...monitor included!
Or you could try the low end Power Mac. Plenty of bang for buck.

Hmm, how much do want to spend? That's probably the best way to start. If you don't have a lot of money, you may want to consider a refurb or used G4 tower.
Some other notes:
The only G3's that Apple sells are the iBook and the CRT iMac. With the coming/present mass adoption of OSX, I would try to get a G4.
You may still want to consider one of the (slightly) older dual G4's (such as a 2x500) if you plan on doing a lot of Photoshop stuff. OSX will appreciate it too.

If it's graphic arts you're interested in, then go for the G4 for sure. The G4 has Altivec, a simd unit that speeds up multimedia applications (if they are coded properly). Most graphic apps for the Mac, like Photoshop, Canvas, and others, are optimized for Altivec, and the speed gains are tremendous. A GHz G4 can trounce a 2 GHz Pentium 4 on tasks that are optimized for Altivec, just to give you an idea of how awesome Altivec is. Here are a few links that should help for your project:

Sorry, this is a bit old, and I lost the other links that would have been a help. But this should get you started, and you can do some google searches for what you need.
Good luck!

If you can get an educational discount get the low end 733 G4 $1200, add or subtract the stock 256 ram, upgrade to the GeForce4mx for $94 and add ram from another vendor! You can get into a more machine for the money than the stock G4/800 for the same price. You are only looking at the processor difference of 67mhz . If you had to have the G4800 overclock it! Just my 2 cents!
