PRAM, um what do i press agian?

Ya, they say its good to do that every month or so, how do I do it, Is it the same for OS X?

Hold command-option-p-r through a restart until you hear the chime twice. It's the same for OS X as it depends on the hardware and not the OS.

I don't mean to tread on anyone's advice, but zapping the PRAM is not something you should be doing on a regular basis.

In OS 7-9.x, you should rebuild your desktop file fairly regularly, especially if you move a lot of data onto and off of your drives. You rebuild the desktop by restarting and holding down SHIFT-OPTION-APPLE. This forces the machine to start without extensions and it will query your about rebuilding the desktop. Answer Yes or OK. Restart normally after it has finished. You may find this especially helpful after crashes.

Zapping the PRAM clears all sorts of system-level and hardware level data from the machine (like the correct date and time, network connection choices, etc). I don't know of any specific harm that zapping it will do, but I've never read anything in the Devnotes or Service Guides from Apple that Zapping the PRAM should be done regularly.
