VPN recommendations that support VPN-on-demand

Hey Im looking for recommendations for personal VPN services that support iPhone but specifically support VPN-on-demand. Anybody got suggestions or reviews?

To clarify, VPN-on-demand would make it so that you don’t have to manually reconnect to the VPN.
I tried a VPN but it would disconnect every single time I locked and unlocked my phone. I think VPN would make it so this doesn’t happen or so that the phone would automatically reconnect to your VPN. Does the iPhone have this capability?

Are you using a VPN app or the built-in VPN?
