problems after trip to Asia: any ideas?

A friend took a MacBook and an iPhone to Mongolia recently. Now they are bothing acting "funny," but especially the MacBook is running extremely slow. So slow that the web is to unusable (hence, I am posting).

Any ideas on why the MacBook is slow and what to do? Could it have something to do with the power source in Mongolia, like a surge? Thanks.

Yes it could possibly be a power surge. Where I live this happens a lot.Bring it to a Apple store to have it checked out.
