Anyone have any suggestions?
It's because your hard drive is fragmented and it can't allocate enough contiguous space to your partition. You can try making a smaller partition until it works (it helps to move large files off your drive first to an external then copy them back) or you can do one of the following:
- use iDefrag ( http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iDefrag.php
) to defragment your drive
- clone your entire drive to an external drive using Carbon Copy Cloner ( http://www.bombich.com/
), erase the internal with Disk Utility and clone it back
To avoid this headache in future, it's a good idea to set up the Bootcamp partition as soon as you get the machine as the drive is clear.
