Apple to hold March 7 iPad event in San Francisco - Page 2

This definitely shows a high res screen.
Here's a quick shot I did with the iPad 2 screen. Even not as close as the one on the invite you can see the pixels. So the retina is a given beyond any doubt!!!

Hate to be picky here, but you either dropped the 's' in wives or misspelt wife! Now, which is it, 'fess up!

(If the former, you scored two life sentences )

Three cheers for Apple! (...and wives!)

What will be interesting is the developers on stage to present new "retina apps"...

I suspect we could see 3rd-part offerings for

-- games
-- education
-- enterprise
-- books/magazines
-- office apps
-- AV creation editing
-- graphics
-- medical

I'd bet that MS Office iPad will be shown and Photoshop Touch will have an immediate upgrade for higher resolution images.

Longshot is that Apple has licensed Wacom technology and supports a high-resolution pressure-sensitive pen.

CNBC probably got 'punked'(is that the correct slang?) by Apple. Good.

So 'to see and to touch'.
Anything to read into the 'and to touch'?

Just means they will have them ready to sell? Or???

The other icons are blurry. Did they implement some kind of "depth of field" where it focuses on where your finger is even before you touch it?

Looks thick enough to be the top or bottom. Not sure why they'd photograph it upside-down.

Might be in landscape mode.

The aliasing of icons on the current screen definitely seems to be gone in the invitation's image.

I suspect that it was something of an innocent mistake. Someone probably heard that there was a New York connection and made a bad assumption that the event would be there. Rather than the truth which is more like Tim will demo the new cameras and screen by doing a FaceTime to the 5th Ave store or something similar.

Yes, but what I'm suggesting is entirely possible.

I'm betting on a 1080p AppleTV and 1080p iTS content also being announced. Seems ideal for all three this time.

Just looked at my iPad, spacing is too tight between the icons to be landscape mode

I have photographed my iPad screen and it definitely exhibited a moire in the screen area of the image. So using such a shot for print usually requires some photo editing work. Not saying the screen won't be higher res but based on my experience examining previous Apple images of iPads, I think they have done quite a bit of touch up with Photoshop in the past.

Parental controls are built right in for those reasons.

I'm guessing by the way you asked this question however, that you are some kind of extreme wacko that wants to do something that no one in the world besides yourself ever thought of or wanted to do before and that therefore this answer probably won't satisfy you.

I just read the Gizmodo article on it, seems the home button really is gone.
It'll have to be replaced with a gesture now.

Swipe up from the bottom edge like notifications?

Four-finger pinch like OS X Launchpad?

...

It may be too big an event to stream. Maybe they should practice by streaming an event with less interest, like maybe the Super Bowl.

Buy on rumor, sell on news. We'll see if it happens again.

That's how I'm trading it... Yesterday morning I bought weekly calls on the assumption that invites would be in the next day or two. Plan on holding them through to Friday... take a LITTLE and buy way out of the money weekly's for next week ($560 maybe?) on the off chance that something groundbreaking moves the stock. But will be mostly in cash at that point waiting for the pullback which you speak of.

They did do a live stream of one of Steve's last keynotes. Can't remember which one but it didn't go that well. It kept jumping back top the beginning and lost connection several times for many people.

I don't see enough evidence to suggest that is the case. Remember the iPad can be used on any of its 4 sides. They could have not included the button accidentally, could have used it on a different side to not include it, or even removed the button is editing.

If they did they remove the Home Button I'd be a little worried about a decline in utility. How will you enable Siri or other Home Button actions? I don't think the integrated button with no tactile feedback is a good solution.

Okay, don't flame me for this and yes, I do have better things to be doing, however...

The desktop image in the invitation only takes on that particular appearance when the screen is in portrait mode. Therefore, with that spacing, the button should be right below the Maps icon and quite visible. Still, I'd say that the image has just been manipulated to remove distraction. (Either that or the button is gone )

we all know here that it will have retina display for the 'see' part.
now for the 'touch' part, no home button?

A giant iPad, more likely. That finger is from an adult... Compare it to the size of the icon, and you'll see it (the icon, not the finger) is huge!!... A 15" iPad, anybody?

Besides, iOS doesn't highlight the text of an icon when it is touched (or when it's about to be, it doesn't work as with a mouse ). This is just an artistic interpretation of a Retina Display iPad. That it is coming I'm quite convinced.
