Global Mobile Awards Chief is sitting down talking to Samsung exec and all of a sudden feels something bump into his leg three times. He looks down and sees nothing but three bundles of $100.00 bills. He then looks up in the direction of the arm holding the bills in and sees that Samsung is bribing him. He then accepts the money after the Samsung exec says. We want to support your firm. Now its all a matter of money now isn't it. Being that Apple diet feel that bribery is key in the award they came out second on the smart phone. Oh well. Its the sales that matter not the little award that will collect dust.

And for all of you who think my spelling and grammar is terrible. I personally now of two people registered here. Please remember I am a Disabled VET with a head injury. So please be patient with me. Thank you.

FYI, Microsoft showed off their Mobile Windows 8 at MWC today and put the whole conference to sleep while yammering about how great this will be when they finally make it into a shipping product. I was completely underwhelmed by the photos of the screen shots...very messy.

Anyone buying into this mess by MS has, as Jobs put it, "no taste,"

I have a Samgung Galaxy Nexus... It is a good phone. Better than the iPhone 4S is some way and not as good in others. I know this is a pro Apple site, but Samsung does make good phones and the Android phones are completely different than the iPhone....

To say that Samsung copied the iPhone is to show you ignorance.... Apples and Oranges.... (Pun intended)

"judged by more than 170 independent analysts, journalists, academics, including PCMag's mobile analyst, Sascha Segan."

Sorry, but I'm not really impressed with analysts, journalists, and academics as being able to provide useful insight.

The important facts are:
1. The Top 3 phones in the world are all iPhones.
2. The entire industry apparently likes the iPhone well enough to slavishly copy it.

His issue was with the 25% number, hypothesizing that what the original poster said is untrue and even suggesting its a made up number.

Because Apple is the the only company smart enough, and with products (and ecosystem) good enough, to actually make money in this space. The other players have always taken the approach of a race to the bottom on price turning the industry into a commodity business which does not drive innovation or quality. It has always been a unique industry as well in that the carriers have also held a stranglehold on the handset makers and Apple has revolutionized that relationship. As to typical commodity markets, just look at what has happened to the PC industry. It is also a reflection of the huge consumer demand for the iPhone based on the quality and total ecosystem, not just the hardware.

It's an industry group that Apple may or may not belong to, that's taking the lion's share of all the profits.

The saying is, it's mighty hard to convince someone that X is true if their dues collections give them an economic interest in saying it isn't.
