Tho it's been out of the news MOSAID (CORE Wireless) is still proceeding with it's patent infringement lawsuit targeting Apple. In case anyone overlooked it and despite Apple's cross-license agreement with Nokia
, MOSAID is using Nokia IP against Apple yet again. MOSAID is of course a Nokia/Microsoft Patent Assertion Entity, another one of those immune-to-IP-counterclaim, non-product producing "patent trolls" as they're commonly called.
Apple's request to transfer the case out of patent-holder friendly Texas was denied initially so Apple appealed it to the Federal Circuit. Yesterday that court also denied Apple's motion. So a Texas court it is.
For anyone wanting to know where the royalty goes if MOSAID is successful , it will reportedly be a three way split of Apple's money with a third going to MOSAID, and Nokia/Microsoft sharing the other two-thirds tho the percentage split between the two wasn't specified.Edited by Gatorguy - 3/1/14 at 10:55am
