Solyndra * (4)=$2,100,000,000 Bankruptcy

That's correct...here's yet another green energy failure.

Quote:
Solar Trust for America received $2.1 billion in conditional loan guarantees from the Department of Energy -- "the largest amount ever offered to a solar project," according to Energy Secretary Steven Chu -- for a project near Blythe, Calif., but declared bankruptcy within a year. It is unclear how much of the guarantee, if any, was actually awarded.

My question...why the hell is it unclear? This is the result of Obama's venture capitalism. Investing in alternative energy research is necessary. Playing roulette with taxpayer dollars is, well, this.

China saw the 9 billion in loan guarantees we gave the solar industry and distributed 30 billion in GRANTS to their industry. Instead of getting mad at China and defending America, Republicans are taking advantage of the opportunity to slam Obama instead. Really patriotic, folks. Really putting America first. China is attacking our industry and attempting to kill our future job prospects and you are turning against your own. Pathetic. You can't pass up a cheap shot on the president, can you? Yes, really fucking pathetic.

So your contention is that brilliant Obama was beaten at his own game by the Chinese only it wasn't really his own game because the program was started under Bush. Obama didn't expand it or match the Chinese and almost everyone to whom he gave loans has gone bankrupt but of course (again) none of it reflects on him, was his fault, or should have been corrected, modified, altered or in any form or way required any leadership or decision making of him.

I see...we should only "get mad" at China when it benefits you politically. Got it. The fact is that Obama is blamed not for investing in solar, but for making foolish and politically-motivated investments with tax dollars.

Of course we should be mad....it makes Obama look bad! Damn those Chinese! Even Obama says so:

Quote:
Obviously, we wish Solyndra hadnt gone bankrupt. Part of the reason they did was because the Chinese were subsidizing their solar industry and flooding the market in ways that Solyndra couldnt compete. But understand, this was not our program per se.

Of course not. Because NOTHING is Obama's responsibility except for the two times per day his clock is right...then he's a genius.

Gotta love those Commies... They not only get MFN trading status, but pull an economic hit on the US and some of us jump to the defense of...... China.

Anything to take a cheap shot at the president. You clearly have expressed your disdain for our president, but still you look at this situation with objectivity. If only SDW, et al, could do the same.

Yeah, BR, the problem is my objectivity. It has nothing to do with what a magnificent failure the President is. Once again, nothing is his fault.

Some of us have been calling for fair trade instead of free trade for quite a while now. The problem is that every time we do, folks on the left call us all racists for not being willing to ship our jobs over seas.
