This is acceptable now. The Obama campaign, with nothing of note to run on and no real accomplishments to trumpet has declared that they can speculate about whether someone they are running against has done wrong rather than actually having to deal with facts, figures, numbers or hell even a discussion of ideals and philosophies.

So in this thread, we honor our president by practicing what he preaches against him.

This start off innocently enough. President Obama and his family are taking in a pre-Olympic basketball game.

However soon (OMINOUS TONE) the problems begin.

President Obama, a man known for his past history of vices, especially involving mind altering agents or even the mundane like cigarettes begins boozing it up.

The spirits are flowing and soon, there is dancing and merriment all around.

Like many an unscrupulous man, President Obama decides to take advantage of his liquored up and loosened up wife to get his freak on.

But the problems compound because... this party is just getting started. What Mom doesn't know won't hurt anyone.

What's good for the goose is....well good for goosing my daughter as well.....

Nothing like trading in the old model for the new and improved one.

Oh noes.... Mom's looking pissed and incest plus child molestation plus statutory rape are all pretty serious crimes.

President Obama decides he really has to quit the booze when he realizes he's asking an old drunk Irishman where the hell his car is at while trying to escape his crimes.

Is Obama a drunk? He has a self admitted history of drug abuse.

Is he a polygamist? He certainly has a family history of it and his actions show several disturbing trends regarding his own child.

Is Obama right-handed? He has declared he is left-handed but is drinking that beer with his right hand!!!!

Does he have sex with goats? We don't really know that either but since we can hope and change the election to pure speculation instead of a discussion about performance and ideas, no one need worry about facts or proof.

This is why 50% of the country is freaking out, going ultra-conservative, right-wing, proudly saying things like "They should kill Assange" on national television and so on. They cannot cope. When they see people slaughtered by gun violence, all they can do is light candles, and "think of the families"... which, while noble, we should also think of the killer and particularly the killing machines not found in many other developed countries. Even more fucked up many will go out and buy ~more~ guns, thinking they can save everyone from the next psychopath, by having some sort of Wild West Shootout in the middle of a shopping mall or cinema, where trained police usually failed. This is why they're grasping at straws ~ are they so desperate that a Mormon* with dodgy business dealings and poor international expertise is America's best hope?

*Clarification: I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but merely it seems like there were no more better mainstream candidates?

The U.S. isn't facing erosion due to what you state. I've started a few threads, and you should go read them that assign most troubles to the Baby Boomer generation. They've believed they are above the rules their entire life and almost all have lived, earned, spent or (lack of) invested accordingly.

This belief in being beyond the rules manifests itself in a multitude of odd and strange ways. For many Boomers the manifestation is both in family and financial. They divorce and call "quality time" the same as actual parenting. They label all manner of defective and ineffective households the same as those that yield the best results. For finance, they've basically been trying to believe you don't have to invest or make things their entire lives. Even Steve Jobs wasn't immune as he believed that altering his diet could somehow cleanse cancer from his body.

As for finances, they've created and watched pop bubble after bubble in industry after industry believing that nothing will ever revert to the mean, that the rules have changed and this time it really will last forever.

My number one rule is that EVERYTHING reverts to the mean. No one is above the rules and even if you manage to catch an early break or be an innovator in a new industry, the profit margins, the sales, the money that can support that industry and the growth itself all eventually revert to normal numbers.

This is part of why I've been much more active in the Apple forums because clearly Apple, and the entire cell industry has experienced amazing growth, growth that was largely stolen from the Personal Computer industry, but amazing growth and the low hanging fruit is done there. The easy growth is gone. The fat margins will thin.

You can either change when that happens or you can construct and deceive yourself with elaborate ruses and lies. The boomers have been lying to themselves about the fat growth of America for their entire lifetimes. They've borrowed and spent the difference instead. It will be a hard thing to overcome.

That said the U.S. will probably make out okay because while our Boomers bought those lies, the rest of the world have bought even bigger ones. China bought the lie that demography isn't destiny. It is and it always will be. The one child rule will be the end of them in many ways. Europe all manner of immigration, financial and demographic lies. We've discussed countries like Australia and Canada and perhaps their real strength right now is that they are role players in world affairs. On a team one of the few people who cannot delude themselves is a role player. They have to know from the beginning what their strengths and weaknesses are and exploit them or they won't even have a real chance. They aren't the star. They can't believe they are above the rules. Canada made the cuts in social programs. They export oil. They kept their budget balanced. No one could convince them that perhaps because they had once been amazing or looked amazing now, that the rules and numbers didn't need to be followed or add up.

The numbers always add up and they will add up for the U.S., but they will also add up for Japan, China, and the EU as well.

The numbers will even add up for a Peace Prize winner who doubles down on war.

Yes sadly you would be correct about that. I'm sure certain elements of the extremists in that circle are just like this. Some would find them funny. I don't. Especially the parts involving the first family. Poking fun at the politician and how he/she approaches the issues is one thing. Making bad or sick jokes about him and his family is another.

I've looked at your links and while they aren't nice they're hardly the same thing. Like for example post # 11 of this thread and that's just one. None of these asked questions if Romney was a distributor of child pornography or other such nonsense. You're reaching here Trumptman.

The point is these are people with shows, audiences and who are supposed to be presenting the news or at least informed discussion on the news. Instead they are mocking and deriding. I've proven my point and I don't have to indulge you by demonstrating some sort of "severity" on the Jimmac scale.
