I bought a 17'' IMAC G5, but when I open them there was no hard drive and only one piece of the memory, could this be the reason I am not getting picture at start up? I already had a 20" and I have the same problem, inside LED 4 is on, which indicates its overheating. When buying a hard drive for my 17" is there anything to consider? as you can see I'm new at this.

Yeah, that would be the reason.
What do you plan to do with it? There's not a lot that PowerPC computers can do anymore.
We really need to know more about it before we can start recommending parts, too. Do you know what model it is?

Oh, good, that clarifies things a lot.
You can buy any 3.5" SATA hard drive on the market today. It only has a SATA I port in it, but both other SATA types (II and III) are compatible (just not at the higher transfer speeds).
