The re-skinned Music app for IOS 6 has made some good improvements.

However, the typeface appears washed out and there is little contrast - which reduces legibility.

It is very different from the clean, black typefaces of the other apps like contacts or settings. See for yourself.

This doesn't make sense because many people use the music app while on the go (ie running, exercising, travelling etc), and need to quickly check their music tracks at-a-glance. So legibility is critical.

I suspect some Apple designer decided the music app needed a 'moodier and more subtle' look to reflect the 'creativity' of the content.

But this misses the point. Navigation and legibility come first. The creativity resides in the music itself, not the interface.
