Yeah, and that he was resolutely against a smaller tab, but now they're brining one out soon, which is easy to assume has been in development since Steve was alive.

 

They developed one in 2009, for crying out loud. That's how they knew not to release it in the first place. 

Why do people always say Steve was blowing smoke and that it was "marketing" that made him say a 7" tablet was bad? Do they really think that Apple didn't build 200 tablets in 20 different screen sizes to find the one that worked best and released that in 2010? REALLY?

So Steve was against a smaller tablet even being thought of, as opposed to being the first tablet they came out with, -and- Steve is the one who started it being developed? How is any of that suppose to make sense?

Don't get all defensive, you don't know what I think. Of course I think that, but he changed his mind on releasing one. This will be a 7.85" finished product, there's a difference. Meaning, this finished device you'll see in shops was committed to while Steve was alive.

What is wrong with you? I'm serious. Even being thought of? Where do you get this stuff?

Steve said on a conference call, publicly, that 7" tablets were a bad idea. He mocked them. But he changed his mind on the matter. And now one year after his death we get to see the result of him changing his mind. During his professional life he was know to change his mind in a complete 180 at times. Often so dramatically that you'd forget he thought the other way the day prior. Tim Cook commented on this at D this year. He changed his mind on video on iPods, and many other things, including, according to John Siracusa, iTunes on Windows.

He changed his mind, get over it. The world will continue to spin.

It's difficult to imagine that the products built in the development of the iPad were not in a state close enough to also be called finished that they could be deemed unacceptable for public release.

 

 

 

Again, no evidence of that. But if you want to take the road that says they just picked up development of the 7" tablet they made and rejected in 2009 before the launch of the chosen iPad, I'll agree with you there.

I don't think you give Apple enough credit. Sure, they will have made all different sized versions but naturally they will have saved the best 'til last - as they always do!

 

What? You're crazy, Apple always leads with their best hand, and the iPad is it. The iPad mini is for the smaller, lower end market, so they don't wake up in a few years after seeding 70 % marketshare of tablets for no good reason.

And you're deranged. Take the iPhone as an example of how size and form have been perfected (so they say!) with the latest release.

 

I fail to see how the iPad could comprise 70% of all shipped tablets and NINTY-FIVE PERCENT of all tablets actually in use without already being the right size.
