office is too slow and unresponsive - what solutions are there? if there are issues why does mac not say that the two are incompatible pre purchase?

If Office 2011 is slow and unresponsive on your system, then the problem is on your system. We can't fix a problem on your system until you give some information about your system.

Buy iWork. You can also give us more information about what you're doing and we can try to fix the problems you have with the software and hardware you have.

Because Apple (Apple.) doesn't make Office and couldn't care less about its compatibility. It's not their problem, it's not their responsibility.

By Pro, I assume that you mean MacBook Pro. How large is your hard drive and how much free space does it have?
