Do you mean immigration, which is what we're actually discussing, or do you mean both ways, or do you intentionally mean to say we should be able to leave the US but not vice-versa?

I meant both ways. Perhaps I should have used the word "migration" though my understanding of the meaning the word "emigration" did not indicate which direction only movement from one area to another. But I digress. I meant the freedom to go both ways.

Is Ron Paul now speaking out in favor of Obama's immigration reform?

I don't know. I don't keep track of everything Ron Paul does. You're capable of using Google to find out the answers to such questions.

Indeed. If I were MJ I might not want to identify myself with a term that has been championed almost exclusively by white supremacists, but maybe that's just me.

Ok, I'll bite (probably against my better judgment). MJ, when in US history since your KKK defended illegal rebellion against the union have Americans been killed en masse by the US government... maybe using the number of accidental gun deaths in any given year as a measuring stick for what I mean by "en masse"?

Of course, if you've been following the thread you'd know we're talking about actions that were not the result of a foreign war (which we both oppose).

I wonder if Jazzy is going to call him out for historical revisionism. Nah.

Let's teach kids about guns!

Missouri rep suggests teaching 1st graders about gun safety... based on a curriculum developed by...drum roll... the NRA.

I teach gun education to my kindergarten kids. When they use building toys to make a gun, I tell them, "I don't like guns. Guns are bad. Guns hurt people." And I tell them to make an airplane instead. Of course I can do that, because where I live, guns are 100% illegal except for police (pistols only) and security (shotguns only). And where I live, with a population of 8 million, the last gun death was in 2009.

How ironic that the same people that say teaching kids how to avoid VD and accidental pregnancy will just teach kids to be irresponsible about sex think that teaching kids how to avoid firearms accidents will lead to them being responsible with guns. It's flabbergasting.

That is the intelligence we are confronted with in today's society. Ignorance is really ramped with the parents of today.

No, he's correct. The Civil War was first and foremost about states rights and the Constitutionally guaranteed right of secession.

There were also practical economic, tax and corporate issues at play that had nothing to do with slavery. Slavery was the publicly acceptable reason to go to war (for the northern states and Lincoln)...not unlike terrorism is used today and evil dictators are used as excuses to go to war for oil (Iraq), etc. This shit is as old as time itself.

Attacking its own people under false pretenses? Surely the U.S. could never do such a thing.

I like how you cleverly (yet indirectly) imply that the lessons offered in the other article are somehow not part of reality and then selectively chose a piece of reality and claim that to be all of reality. Well done, sir.

There is plenty of bigotry in the south even today. They still cannot over that the north won in the civil war. That is their mentality there.Minorities are not admired there to much.

In Texas, they are considering a requirement to NOT teach critical thinking skills because then kids would question the babble tought them by their parents.

That's right, they are considering making ignorance a part of the curriculum.

Absolutely. Better in most ways that matter. No gun violence. Other violence limited to gang infighting. Great social safety net. Low military budget. Low incidence of religion. Reproductive freedom...

Ah, but there are many who are slaves of the NRA who don't even realize that they're being manipulated for dollars.

I know what a metaphor is. So now you are claiming that you were using a metaphor when to said that some people are "slaves" to the NRA.

OK. Got it.

That's an extremely poor metaphor.
