Apple seeds tenth OS X 10.8.3 build to developers [u]

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
Less than one week after issuing the ninth OS X 10.8.3 beta to developers, Apple on Wednesday seeded build 12D65 with no known issues.

Update: An obscure detection bug in which the typing of the phrase "F:///" would crash many OS X apps has reportedly been fixed with the latest 12D65 build.

Beta Build

People familiar with the newest build's release notes informed AppleInsider that developers are still being asked to focus on the same five areas: AirPlay, AirPort, Game Center, Graphics Drivers and Safari.

It appears that build 12D65 is not the upcoming maintenance update's golden master, meaning there is still work to be done before a public release.

The news comes on the heels of a continued reports of increased traffic from Macs running the as-yet-unannounced OS X 10.9, which suggests an unveiling of the next-gen operating system could be imminent.

Ten betas; there had better not be ANY bugs in whatever this adds, if anything.

There are always bugs.   Consider how long it has been since the last update came before the"F://" bug showed up.

As a side note 10.9 seems near.   I suspect one big feature will be support for the next Mac Pro which makes me wonder if developers have seen any leakage of info that might indicate what that new Mac Pro will be like.   Maybe I'm expecting too much but I see the coming Mac Pro replacement as an indicator of where Apple is going with the Mac platform in general.

If 10.9 is the first software to support it, I doubt any sort of hint will come until we get 10.9 DP1. And even then it will only be in the form of one instance of "MacPro6,1" (or, heaven forbid, "MacPro5,2") and a plist showing support for specific cards from the Radeon 8xxx family.

I can't ever remember this many betas being seeded, or this kind of protracted wait for a point update. I have to wonder what Apple is doing. Is this intended to be the last update before 10.9? Or at least close to last?
AppleInsider = Apple-in-cider. It's a joke!

I've used macs since 1985 when I typed up my first research paper. Never used anything else never wanted to.
