Rolls-Royce Director of External Corporate Communications Josh Rosenstock is rumored to have left the auto maker to take on a new position at Apple, which will reportedly task the executive with handling corporate relations in the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa region.

Rosenstock is believed to be filling a newly created role in Apple's exective hierarchy as the EMEIA region becomes more important to the company's bottom line, reports PRWeek, citing one person familiar with the move.

The "heavyweight" hire is said to the result of Apple's continued expansion into burgeoning markets, where corporate affairs are essential given their ties to each region's unique regulatory and political issues.

"This is an acknowledgement from Apple there?s a need for wider horsepower when it comes to links with Whitehall stakeholders," said a separate source, referring to British governmental agencies. "As Apple becomes an institution in its own right it needs to upskill in this area."

Previously, Rosenstock worked in similar roles at Rolls-Royce, tech firm Misys and RWE Thames Water.

It is believed that the new hire will be under the guidance of Senior Director of EMEIA Corporate Communications Alan Hely.

Cool. So now we can get rumors from Digitimes and all the moron analysts about Apple's plans to enter the jet engine business. Or maybe they're going to compete with Boeing and AIrbus in making airplanes. Or maybe USAir and American will merge with Apple and they'll be in the travel business.

Of course, after those rumors turn out to be false, the stock will drop some more.

No kidding.  Do they not even make the effort of a 5-second google search??  Rolls Royce POWER systems.  This is the serious company powering everything from airplanes, to power generators.  Has nothing to do with the car maker.

Jeez, seriously.  No one makes any efforts in journalism anymore.

Here's what they do AI.

Great. Just great. That's all Apple needs... Yet more fuel for Apple haters who say Apple caters exclusively to the wealthy.

What ever happened to "for the rest of us"?
Is Rolls Royce a car for the rest of us?

Please keep up, Rolls Royce engines, NOT Rolls Royce Cars.

Well, excuse me. I shall rephrase for sake of political correctness then...

Is there a Rolls Royce ENGINE for the rest of us?

Rolls-Royce cars are made by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited which is a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW.

It's been my feeling for a while that Apple has been slowly building up their patent portfolio and experience with power systems management to the point where they may eventually be able to offer home-scale power systems to get individuals off the grid. The ultimate Apple ecosystem!
