Apple makes new iMac available to employees at discounted price

Apple on Thursday added the newly redesigned iMac to the company's Employee Purchase Plan program which offers workers a $500 savings every three years on eligible Mac hardware, a savings that is applied on top of their usual 25 percent discount.

The change in availability comes roughly five months after Apple introduced the public to the slimmed-down iMac in October, and is the first time eligible employees are able to use their $500 credit toward the purchase of the all-in-one desktop.

Apple CEO Tim Cook initiated EPP+ in June of 2012 after announcing the hardware discount program in January. Under the plan, employees who have passed their probationary period are granted $500 and $250 every three years to put toward the purchase of a new Mac or iPad, respectively.

The news comes on the same day that Apple started sales of VESA mount-compatible iMacs that come in a special configuration for an additional $40.

I suppose this is news in that no one would have expected it wouldn't have been part of the program.

Though I don't know why it'd bother being posted here, as none of us can be Apple employees.
