Anyone who claims they called the 2012 election and that it gave them credibility over others...

This IRS scandal is HUGE and by the time we are done having it investigated, I'm sure we will see that this election was at a minimum, influenced and at a maximum, stolen.

Quote:

NBC's Lisa Myers reported this morning that the IRS deliberately chose not to reveal that it had wrongly targeted conservative groups until after the 2012 presidential election:

The IRS commissioner "has known for at least a year that this was going on," said Myers, "and that this had happened. And did he share any of that information with the White House? But even more importantly, Congress is going to ask him, why did you mislead us for an entire year? Members of Congress were saying conservatives are being targeted. What's going on here? The IRS denied it. Then when -- after these officials are briefed by the IG that this is going on, they don't disclose it. In fact, the commissioner sent a letter to Congress in September on this subject and did not reveal this. Imagine if we -- if you can -- what would have happened if this fact came out in September 2012, in the middle of a presidential election? The terrain would have looked very different."

This goes right to the top.

Washington Post

Quote:
According to the inspector general’s report, Mr. Miller was aware of the political targeting in March 2012, sending a team from I.R.S. headquarters in Washington to discuss it with the program’s leaders in Cincinnati. Yet a month later, Mr. Miller, then the deputy I.R.S. commissioner for enforcement, wrote a letter to Republican senators saying there was no targeting of conservative groups.

“There is a penalty for lying to Congress,” Mr. Boustany said.

Quote:
The Treasury Department’s inspector general told senior Treasury officials in June 2012 he was auditing the Internal Revenue Service’s screening of politically active organizations seeking tax exemptions, disclosing for the first time on Friday that Obama administration officials were aware of the matter during the presidential campaign year.

This is a clear and complete breach of trust. Obama's language made it clear that people who oppose him are enemies and it is clear that the federal government was more than willing to take actions against those on his list.

Plug "Obama stole 2012 election" into a search engine and you get a whole slew of articles. In this one, for an example, it includes the following information...which appears very peculiar:

Quote:

First of all, Obama received 10 million less votes than he did in 2008. The part that is unbelievable is that Romney received 3 million less votes than McCain. At the end of the day, Obama won in the 4 critical swing states by 500,000 votes. But it is worse than that. We can look at who voted.

By examining the number of Independents and their preference shift among actual voters, we know that 5 million Independents changed their votes from Obama to Romney. So Romney started the day 2.5 million votes ahead of where McCain was in 2008. This means that 5.5 million Republican voters are not accounted for.

Then, add that conservatives (ie Republicans) tend to be more committed re. voting than liberals, and something stinks here. Since electronic voting machines have become ubiquitous in much of the country, to take control of an election just requires an internet or direct connection, or control over, the central tabulating software via a back door. If, for example, hackers can deploy Stuxnet (and similar) worms to disable the centrifuges in the Iranian nuclear fuel enrichment program, by remote, then taking control over the voting machines central tabulators is child's play... and the motivation factor is enormous.

This is why we want a bigger and every more in control government? So they can be unresponsive and plead ignorance while undertaking actions to steal an election.

“So here is what everyone wants to know: You’ve got 132 members of the United States Congress contacting you about this issue, 42 news stories about this issue in the time period in question, and you never checked it out. You never researched it. I mean, are you sure you’re being square with us today, Mr. Shulman?”

“I am absolutely telling you the truth today,” Shulman said.

Jordan also delved into the number of times Shulman visited the White House.

“One hundred and eighteen times you were at the White House, 132 Members of Congress contact you about this information, 42 major news stories about this very subject and you told Congress a year ago, ‘I can give you assurances nothing is going on, everything is wonderful, we’re not targeting conservative groups,’” Jordan said. “That is why the American people are like, ‘This is unbelievable.’”

No one is dumb enough to buy this lie.

It's CRIMINAL

But there can be only one reason for the stalled-out approval process for conservative groups. The IRS was trying to put them out of business. Thus far, there’s not one wit of contradictory evidence.

Think of this: If the IRS wasn’t politically targeting conservative groups, why did its leading spokespeople lie? This was not even cognitive dissonance. It was outright lying before Congress. Lois Lerner, a key player in the IRS’s tax-exempt division, is being accused by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee of no fewer than four lies. The inspector general’s report shows that she knew about the targeting problem in June 2011, but wouldn’t admit to it in correspondence with Congress over the next two years.

Then there’s former IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman, a Bush appointee. He apparently knew about the targeting in May 2012, but told Congress in August 2012 that he didn’t.

Or there’s former IRS acting director Steve Miller, who was just pushed out. He also knew about the targeting in May 2012, but later refused to admit it to Congress during testimony.

The whole bloody agency may have known about it on August 4, 2011. According to the Treasury Department IG report, various IRS big wigs met that day to talk about the conservative-targeting problem. That meeting may have included the IRS’s chief counsel; while the IG report says he was at the meeting, the IRS has denied that he was. But if one of his minions was at the meeting, the chief counsel would have known about the problem.

And it turns out the Treasury’s inspector general, J. Russell George, told senior Treasury officials in June 2012 that he was auditing the IRS’s political-organization screening. That means White House appointees in the Treasury, including deputy secretary Neal Wolin, were aware of the IRS scandal before the presidential election. According to the New York Times, IG George “did not tell the officials of his conclusions that the targeting had been improper.”

No one knows the exact facts, which presumably will come out in the hearings. But this is important stuff. It is conspiracy stuff. Criminal stuff.

What is amounts to is a stolen election.

To be fair, I don't think we really know what that statement means. I also doubt that electronic/counting fraud was the problem this time around. I think it had to do with massive minority turnout, Obama's fantastic ground game compared to the dated GOP ground game, media bias, and mistakes by Romney himself.  I'd also throw a little bad luck in there (i.e. Hurricane Sandy).

The magic number is 118.

Quote:
One IRS commissioner visited Obama's White House 118 times in 2010 and 2011. His successor also dropped in often. But under George W. Bush, the tax chief visited once in four years. Time for an audit.

IRS Schedule O

As the Washington Examiner noted last weekend, ex-commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service Douglas Shulman went to the White House some 118 times in 2010 and 2011, while Steven Miller, the acting director who took over from Shulman last November, himself made numerous trips there, White House visitor logs show.

Business as usual for one of the most powerful arms of the federal government, you might think. Not so.

Mark Everson, who ran the IRS during most of the George W. Bush administration, from 2003 to 2007, apparently visited a single time, grousing that he felt like he had "moved to Siberia" because the tax collection agency was so out of the policy loop.

The alibi the White House has wedded itself to is that it had to work closely with the IRS to implement ObamaCare. But House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., says "it's hard to believe" the IRS' abusive targeting of Tea Party and other conservative groups did not enter into the conversations that took place at these meetings, at least "in passing."

But the Bush administration actually did some IRS revamping during its tenure, to "provide IRS with the modern tools needed both to deliver first-class customer service to America's taxpayers and to ensure that compliance programs are administered efficiently," with one of the major goals being to address "the drop in customer service ... over the past several years."

Yet that didn't seem to require the IRS commissioner to scurry to the West Wing more than 100 times, or anything close to it.

118 visits and yet completely out of the loop? Our president must believe everyone is really that stupid and he must think he is just that smart.

So I guess this is one of those "little things" BR and Tonton don't have the time to look into. Too bad.

jimmac runs and hides all the time, but I expected better of the others.

Your guys used the IRS to suppress its enemies and corrupt a presidential election. Own it.

You know even if they don't want to own the guy and his actions, they could at least own up to their own actions and posts after that election. They spent a bunch of time telling everyone they were fools and idiots all while something like 8 million fewer people voted for Obama but somehow didn't show up for Romney.

Refuting Democratic suggestions that progressive groups were also swept up in the IRS probe of the tax status of Tea Party organizations, the Treasury Department's inspector general has revealed that just six progressive groups were targeted compared to 292 conservative groups.

In a letter to congressional Democrats, the inspector general also said that 100 percent of Tea Party groups seeking special tax status were put under IRS review, while only 30 percent of the progressive groups felt the same pressure.

• In Kenya, the $53 million Yes Youth Can program empowers nearly one million Kenyan youth to use their voices for advocacy in national and local policy-making, while also creating economic opportunities.  In advance of Kenya’s March 2013 general elections, Yes Youth Can’s “My ID My Life” campaign helped 500,000 youth obtain National identification cards, a prerequisite to voter registration, and carried out a successful nationwide campaign with Kenyan civic organizations to elicit peace pledges from all presidential aspirants. [emphasis added]

At an August 2012 press briefing, Jay Carney had the following to say about a Texas voter ID law:

And on the voter ID case, I can tell you that, as you know, this administration believes it should be easier for eligible citizens to vote -- to register and vote. We should not be imposing unnecessary obstacles or barriers to voter participation.

It's called how you steal elections.
