Samsung co-CEO pushes Tizen OS as more than a 'simple alternative for Android' - Page 5

Lol Samsung just applied for a trademark in the US and other countries called Samsung Gear. aiming at watches / wearable tech.

What are the odds apple registered iWatch a while ago aswell.

What do they plan on running in there so called watch ? Android or Tizen ?

In the end, I feel confident they still won't have the balls Apple does in two departments: carrier branding/bloatware and carrier independent updates. Well... the updates, maybe, but I'd bet my left one that you'll still find carrier branding and bloatware associated with these Tarzan phones.

Google did a pretty good job with their Nexus line of devices, meanwhile Microsoft did just about everything wrong.

What Microsoft should have done was waited until this year to launch Surface devices running Windows 8.1. A Basic model using Intel's brand new Bay Trail architecture and a Pro model using fanless Haswell (Y-Series). This way they can be lightweight, offer a long battery life as well as the performance needed for a full version of Windows 8.1.

The push on Windows RT was destined for failure. ARM inside a tablet is a losing battle, X86 is here.

As a result, the Surface RT had a nice build, but horrible performance and a useless version of Windows.

Meanwhile, the Surface Pro used powerful hardware but forgot it was meant to be a tablet, ie. the kind of device made for mobile
versatility.

I agree with the Nexus line, it's sold with almost no promotion and produced in low numbers. But, given the amount spent on promotion and the amount ordered, and since written off, Microsoft was clearly intending the Surface to be a hit, and they are genuinely shocked it hasn't taken off

Look Apple now has the Android partner fighting one another... Jobs wars wages forward. This will give developer and such even more reason not to get in to android fray.

Try clearing your cache.  I saw the editor stuck sometimes on HTML for the past few days until I did so.  I think something changed.

Thanks. Alas, that didn't work: I'm seeing this (as posted):

There are two editors. TinyMCE which is the WYSIWYG style editor and the BBcode editor which is a more simplified mark up language.

If one person is using TinyMCE, which adds a bunch of redundant and useless HTML, is quoted by someone using BBcode then there will be inconsistencies because BBcode does not support HTML directly.

Thank you! Now I understand. Hats off to you sir!

So when there is an Apple alternative with a better camera AI posters mock it. When there is an Apple alternative with a worse than iPhone camera, AI posters mock it. Pretty funny really.

My wife has a Nexus 4 and it takes pretty good photographs overall. Most people don't expect good results from a smartphone camera under low light conditions. It's good enough in low light and quite good outdoors. My wife has no need for 4G (she probably has no idea what it is even) and she has never complained about the battery.

For her it was the ideal phone. $299 for 8G version, totally free of bloatware, unlocked so we can switch sims on international travel, nice screen and easy to use.

Not everyone. There are a lot of people (myself included) who argue that a better camera is certainly a selling point.

However, it's not the only selling point and needs to be balanced against all the other features. For me, a better camera would not be sufficient to make me use an inferior OS, but others may feel differently.

As usual, a very good point!

Tizen is the best way for Samsung to take control of their own destiny.  Short-term and long-term.

Relying heavily on Google is a sucker move.
