So Apple should release iPhones one city at a time? In case you didn't know, demand won't decline for a few weeks/months in any area.

You cannot by an unlocked Iphone at the Apple store offline or online in Japan.

In Hong Kong, Singapore, etc you can buy an unlocked model from the Apple store or resellers. Secondly NTT Docomo will unlock any other Android smartphone they sell for about $30 USD, but they currently will not unlock iPhones that they just started to sell. Softbank also will not unlock any iPhones they sell, regardless if you pay the entire cost of the iphone upfront or have completed your contract. 1oyvey.gif
