Apple's fiscal Q1 earnings call scheduled for Jan. 27

Thread Starter
Apple on Monday announced that it will reveal results for its first fiscal quarter of 2014 on Jan. 27, which will be followed by an earnings conference call expected to cover holiday season sales performance and more concrete numbers for the iPhone 5s and 5c, as well as the iPad Air and Retina iPad mini.

Earnings 2014

Apple announced the upcoming earnings call in a post to its Investor Relations webpage, pegging a start time of 2:00 p.m. PST/5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, January 27. As in years past, CEO Tim Cook and CFO Peter Oppenheimer are expected to be on hand for questions.

In its quarterly call for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2013, Apple revealed revenues of $171 billion for the year, while retaining $148.6 billion in cash. Over the course of Q4, $2.8 billion was paid out in dividends, while 47 million shares of AAPL stock was retired through the company's buyback plan.

The first fiscal quarter is usually a big a one for Apple given the holiday season, though 2014's has the potential to be even more substantial with new product launches like the iPhone 5s and hotly-anticipated iPad mini with Retina display, as well as expanded international retail operations.

As usual, Apple will live-stream the earnings call via its Investor website, though a link to the specific page has not yet been made available.

You get back here after ER and tell me I missed it TO MY FACE. Oh, sorry the CAPS-LOCK got hung up.

Am I right in thinking product launches in the week or two following an earnings call are fairly likely?

Here's hoping Apple gets 2014 off to a super start.

Doom. Waiting for calls from the usual suspects for Tim Cook to step down.

Long enough after China Mobile availability to allow FQ2 estimates to be better.

They are announcing rather late In thé month. This may indicate that there will be a product announcement before earnings.

We should start a betting pool on how far Apple stock will plummet when they announce blowout, best ever quarter numbers.

I really hope Apple doesn't go 6-8 months with out any product announcements this year. Of course they should only release stuff when it's ready but I think a more regular product cadence would serve them better than these long lulls and then one big product dump in September/October.

What product would they announce in January?

I never understood why a company gets punished when earnings miss estimates when it's the estimates that miss earnings.

The company doesn't get "punished", the share price gets revised in line with new information and expectations.

I hope its a good Q1 with more to come into the new year... I am sick of M$ Surface articles and the rise of Windows 8.1 and Windows phone that will soon defeat Apple... Earn big Apple boys so that you take over the industry and grind these M$ losers into the dust.... :D

Most likely new wearable devices and/or new software services.

For example a SIRI enabled bracelet or medallion with various sensors that is also an extension of other Apple devices.

A major update to AppleTV software and services.

If Apple was planning to release something in January there would have been rumors about it by now.

There’ve been plenty of rumors. Most of which are nonsense.

60M phones

30M ipads

10M ipods/AppleTV

100M devices. Wow.

15-20% increase in dividend

Revisit buyback

Bottom line is Apple shows profit GROWTH of 10-15% the stock will explode up.  The stock has been lagging because 2013 had profit decline even with increased revenue.  The good thing is that the relatively low 2013 profits will make easy targets for growth in 2014.

Abnormal date. Last time they did that they had an event in the prior week.

Is it true that Samsung's profits will be down close to 20%? If so, and if Apple keeps itself flat or shows some growth, they just showed how stupid analysts and shareholders can be.

Having said that, I still believe that if they were more aggressive, Apple itself and their users, + shareholders, would quickly see some amazing benefits. After this dismal quarter (for Samsung), another iPhone line with a bigger screen is a golden bullet targeting samsung's head.

Apple is too conservative to keep excitement going all year round. They were too conservative with the pathetic Macbook Air's screen, too conservative when they kept the 4s around (legacy connectors), too conservative when they kept the cMBP 13" alive and the Mac mini. Having said that, iOS 7, the new Mac Pro, the 5c and aggressive software models show that somewhere at Apple, someone wants blood on the mobile arena. That's great. 2014 looks bright.
