anyway, yeah what some people do is have playlists set up in iTunes itself. that way when they want a set of mp3s in the ipod, they can just erase whats in there and drag a new set to rotate if u have that many.

OK, OK.... I just got the thing yesterday, but I did get to jam to Monolake in my car this morning on the way to work. Sweet!

Taq, I also have many more songs than will fit on the iPod:




For awhile I did manual management of the iPod, but I'd often forget to "eject" the iPod before unplugging it. (This creates an error message).

So instead I make a "sync" playlist, and set the iPod to auto-sync that playlist. Then I drag-and-drop the genres or albums that I want onto that playlist. That way I just plug in and sync up, but still get to hand-pick what goes in.

Good luck, enjoy it - it really is fantastic. Though I wish they would fix the problem in which big mp3s are played straight from the hard drive, instead of partially buffered. Jonathon, you must really have problems with that...

I set up playlists to manage. I haven't set up a sync playlist. One of the cool things I did was add songs to my playlist that are on my server and have them transfered over. Granted it slows down the process, but only a few songs were transferred over, so it wasn't too bad. This way I don't have to worry about synching to different machines and having my music removed.

Although I love having 1500 songs on my iPod, I'm starting to really get tired of the bad quality of 80k VBR (gargling under water sound) and will start encoding at 96k VBR, so my total number of songs looks to go down as I gradually swap out my playlist.

Now that 10GB iPod looks good!

Nothing on my iPod is encoded at lower then 128 kbps and a good amount of it is at 192 and even some that are VBR or 256+.... i just have a bunch of short (about 2 min) songs.... mine is also sw 1.1 and it has 1510 songs with 6.3 megs to spare

yes although i like all kinds of music...(except rap and country) currently I am in the "punk/ska" phase --how did you know? prog-rock is cool also, i dont think i have much on my computer tho... sifting through 14 gigs of music is hard... (and I want loads (read 30 gigs or so) more!)

I only have 250 songs in my iPod currently.

I have over 1000 songs sitting on my G4's hard drive but there are so many of them that I won't listen at all....

I've decided to take the plungs and buy one. I bet I'll be the only human on earth with 1,000+ country songs!

I have many, many songs (used to buy tons of CDs) and outgrew my iPod Photo long ago... I can only use it for catching up on podcasts now. So, I download whatever fits onto my shuffle for running around, and listen to the vast majority of songs on iTunes when I'm on the Mac.

I have this iPod for 4 year, now and it has served me well it gets used daily and only defects are the back is no scuffed up and I can not find a wireless remote that will work the it.

I have the same model. Only thing I miss is the greater capacity of the "new" Classic iPods.

Well, I have the 160 gig Classic, filled up 123 gigs with around 24000 songs
