How many browsers do you have?

Thread Starter
How many browsers do you have loaded on your Mac and which do you find the best?
Two (Chimera and IE).

Chimera's definately the best.
I have Internet Explorer, Chimera, OmniWeb and Netscape loaded...

I only use Chimera and IE. I like them both for different reasons...

I like Chimera best for it's speed.

I like Internet Explorer best for it's stabilty and it's compliance with most websites.

I've got 3: IE, OW, and Chimera.

I use OW almost all the time, occasionally using IE for sites with alot of javascript/CSS positioning. Chimera will be nice once it quits using more CPU than VPC. Until that time, I'm sticking with good ol' omniweb. I love their apps anyway.

I have IE and Netscape 7. Like netscape the best, faster than IE and tabbed browsing.
I had only Chimera for a while, then I got IE a few days ago. Today I decided to download a few extra, so I got OmniWeb, Netscape and Mozilla. Opera and iCab aren't really contenders in my mind; neither are good enough to use over anything else. I'm realizing how good OmniWeb is now, it's very near Chimera as far as looks. The aqua widgets actually look like something from OS X, not made to simulate the OS X look. Also, the text entry in this text box I'm typing in right now is much better than in Chimera. I miss tabbed browsing, though, and OW isn't quite as fast either.

I don't particularly like Netscape or Mozilla but they are both okay, certainly better than IE. I only got IE because essentially everything works with it.

EDIT: One other thing - OW's interface is much faster than Chimera's. I have noticed a problem with Chimera when scrolling with my scroll wheel: if I scroll quickly and then change directions, the page will lag behind and move slowly. I have to wait for all the commands to stop inputting for it to stop. In OW, there's a minimal wait time between when I stop scrolling and when the browser stops scrolling.

Chimera, IE, Omniweb, Netscape, iCab, and Mozilla. I use Chimera and IE the most, it seems those two work best with most site and speedier than other.

Other than speed and compatiblity, I'm concerned (paraniod) about security. I have been checking my Mac out at <a href="http://scan.sygate.com/" target="_blank">Sygate's Web Site</a> to find security holes. So one day I test all my browsers to see how there hiding my information, (i.e. Platform, browser type, etc..) and the only brwsers that did'nt send my information was Chimera and IE. Two of the browsers did'nt even start the check. By the way I aso use NetbarrierX which has privacy technology built on it.

Every one should head over to sygate's site to check what there leaving open.

Same here. But the in the exact opposite order. I use my browsers in the following way (percentage use in brackets):

1. Chimera (98%) for its speed and simplicity.
2. OmniWeb (1.5%) for its superior ad and pop-up filtering.
3. Internet Explorer (0.5%) for sites that don't work with non-IE browsers.

Even at version 0.6, Chimera is by far the best OS X browser out there.

Maybe, for now at least. I expect significant changes in the browser landscape with the advent of OW 5. By the way, my favorites: (a) with respect to speed, chimera, IE, OW; (b) with respect to functionality-features, OW, IE, chimera and (c) with respect to compatibility, same as in (a).

All Chimera has going for it is speed. Otherwise, it's a complete mess. Web page buttons, menus, entry fields, etc. all feel extremely clunky because of all the Mozilla crap. It cannot compare to OmniWeb's myriad of features and intelligently designed preferences. Everything in OmniWeb just works and feels right, like the operating system it belongs to.

I can draw a parallel between Windows/Mac and Chim/OmniWeb. Sure, Chim is rawer, faster, and sometimes more standards-compliant. Calling it "the best browser" is way off the mark, though.

2: OmniWeb is the main browser, and IE for Finance websites.

Did it occur to you that some users see a "myriad of featuers" as something negative and are drawn to Chimera because it has less features? OmniWeb is obviously a great browser. And it's certainly no Netscape colossus. I paid for OW4 and expect OW5 to be even better. But for the vast majority of my browsing, I simply value Chimera's speed more than OW's (admittedly nice) features.

OmniWeb is my Browser of Choice(TM) - it works on most of the sites I follow, and everything - in the interface and on the page - is smooth and pretty, I can open a link behind the current window, and I don't need the control key to summon a contextual menu.

Chimera comes out when I need to look at a site that OW can't handle.

I have a bunch of others (including Netscape 4.7 running in Classic!) that I dust off when I'm wondering how gracefully a page (or especially, a style sheet) will degrade.

I'm impatiently waiting for OW5, so that I can use one browser for everything.

Agreed.

I don't see how all of you people out there can sit there and go on and on about how good OS X looks then go and use something that renders web sites as if how good it looks was an afterthought (Chimera/Navigator.) The widgets all look like crap, and underlined text at small sizes (like the profile/private messages link on this page) always has a solid line and then a dotted line under it...irks me in a bad way.

I have OmniWeb and Internet Explorer on here, Chimera when I believe the hype and download the latest version.

I use Mozilla, Mozilla, and finally Mozilla.

I love Mozilla. It is sick fast on both my Mac's and my PC's. On my Mac it is so fast it doesn't make me complain about slow browsing compared to the PC. On the PC, it is so fast it is practically neural.

The things I like?

Blocking pop-ups
Tabbed browsing
Fast, fast, fast
Integrated search in address bar (I select Google)
