Anyone got any idea when it will move out of beta (and be an app that will actually work properly)??

I've been wondering the same thing. Seems like it's been in Beta for an awfully long time.

iSync beta so horribly mangled my calendars and address book that I stopped using it month ago. It was titled 'beta" but it behaved like late 'alpha' and I think Apple shipped it just to meet the self-imposed deadline.

Bad call.

Screed ...may skip version 1.0 for verison 1.1

I believe iSync killed my iPod--well injured my iPod. The Apple Store fixed it, but I haven't used iSync since.

Well, the worst that's happened to me was iSync added my to-do-list items about five times, because my Palm kept setting the due date as the day when I open them, and the Mac kept the original due date, so they kept treating them separate and duplicating.. but that wasn't too hard to fix, just deleted them and made the due date in the future (rather than three months ago.. heheh, my to do list really doesn't help me, does it?). I mostly don't use iSync, though, because I got tired of it... it always wants to sync the palm, and then I have to open up that kluge of HotSync Manager and wait for it to take forever to sync all the crap with iSync.. and it'll always want to add stuff when nothing has changed, which drives me nuts!

Anyway.. Sync does have a little ways to go, but it's still the first beta.. I suspect the next month or two (max) we'll see a new iSync. I think there was a note about when the iSync beta would expire in the iSync readme, though.. somebody should check up on that.

All of you complaining here about your experiences with iSync beta should be also letting apple know if you have not already. That is how they fix those issues and release a better product. I used it for a bit, but it did not really excite me. It is beta software though so Your Mileage WILL Vary, a lot.

iSync will be out of beta when it's ready. Or actually, knowing Apple, it'll be released just before it's ready, then be followed quickly by a .01 release.

To be of true value, iSync has to seamlessly connect to as many devices from various manufacturers using a multitude of platforms as is possible. I'll forgive it if it doesn't talk to Pocket PC devices in the 1.0 release, but it had better talk to all Palm devices (from Palm, Handspring, Sony, ...) via USB/Bluetooth/IrDA, and all SyncML compatible cell phones.

If it doesn't, it's just a cheap gimmick to support tie-ins with Palm and Sony Ericsson.

Beta? Beta my ass. iSync deleted all my contacts and all my calendars... good thing I had the calendars backed up at least. Never again will I take part in the Apple-User Beta Test.

incredible:
1. it is labled as beta. user beware. how much more does apple need to clearly tell ya?
2. the worst that apple could be blamed for is that it thought its user community at large could handle a mass beta. a totally promoted mass public beta is very rare. this maybe was their lapse in judgement. maybe they thought their user base was more intelligent than basic windows communnity.
3. for people who know what the various settings are, and are hooked up to .mac, i sincerely doubt it destroyed anything that it didnt or couldnt have warned you of in the first place if you understood the settings.
4. if you dont have an offline disk for instantaneous and frequent backups of any and all of yr data and programs, you need to go back to yr step 1 computer training.

worked flawlessly. I transferred my contacts onto my rev1 5gig iPod from my iBook with 10.2.2 and all the updates. At least I think...I guess I'll wait until the 1.0 before using it again.

ISync used to mess up my contacts as well. Duplicating them and so on. Then I set it to overwrite my devices and since then its worked flawless. I use it every day to sync my apointments between my TiBook, my Cube at home and my t68i...

With the .mac feature I installed all my 7 calendars and my 250 contacts on my new TiBook in 10 seconds.
