I changed my buddy icon in iChat recently, and it's appearing correctly to everyone I chat with. However, it still displays the old icon on my side in chat windows. (The new, correct one is displayed in the buddy list, although occasionally that one will revert back to the old one too). Has anybody else seen this too?

Yes I have noticed this also.... I have been looking for an answer from apple for weeks and they keep saying they are "lookin into it".
I never get tired of being right all the time... but I do get tired of having to prove it to you again and again.

I usually play around with switching icons too. This is the first time the bug's ever appeared for me. I always drag and drop into the icon well.

I use drag and drop
I wish there was an option to "double-click" on the icon so i can get the "big" version of it again so i can resize it...

I --also-- have this problem.
Here's a short quiz for everybody:
Ar you logging into iChat with your AOL account?
Did you ever use AIM before using iChat?
I'm just wondering if there's some kind of double or triple databasing of info going on. Whenever I log into AIM or iChat with my AOL screen name I have to use a different password than when I log into AOL. It's weird but true.

This is a bug or a feature depending on which glasses you have on:
Since I download 10.2.3 I noticed that if you are talking to someone and minimize there chat...there icon will appear in the dock..however if you don't get anyicon from them and minimize it then there is just a blank space in the dock..most everyone on my list gives me some kinda icon if just a generic AOL icon but a couple of don't..no biggy...
as far as Talk and VideoConferencing it would be cool if Apple helps bring this technology to the AOL network....there was a forbes article stating video conferencing as one of the suprises for Macworld Sanfransisco...I hope!...

that has to do with aol... I know a lot of people that forget their AOL password because they use AIM all the time and get confused... talk to them about it... you should be able to change it tho...
It would be nice if iChat gave visual feedback to the minimized windows that have messages that I haven't responded to yet like AIM does (the green "IM" dot, note that this functionality can also be turned off w.o responding if desired...)
Also, the conversation logging needs to be fixed... i have something like 200+ conversations with more then one person...
In the new version of AIM the logs are all contained in one file for each screen name...a much better system...
there are a lot of things that apple needs to get fixed and a lot of features they should add...
the main thing is that there is NO FEEDBACK PAGE specifically for iChat... furthermore, there is no link in the application itself to get to a feedback page like in AIM and many other applications...
to me, this shows just how much apple cares about getting this app up to speed... they just wanted to get it out the door (IMHO)...

I've had the iChat Icon Bug too, I've only got it when I started switching between screennames(Mac and AOL for me). I dunno if this will help, but for me it fixed it.
Inside "Home>Library>Caches" there is a folder called AIM. When I moved it out or trashed it, next time I started iChat it was fixed. Downside was that all the buddy icons had to be pulled from the buddies (took like a sec for me).
Hope this helps.

Ahhh.. that would explain it. The bug didn't appear until I switched screen names too. I'll try that out, thanks.
