It would also destroy Apples brand of "expensive but worth it". There are tones of after-market companies that their bread and butter is making apple product gaudy to make them appear more elite. Man, would a solid gold phone ever be heavy, lol... especially a 5" one...

My apologies. I misread. 

To be fair, though ... I didn't say it would be the exclusive either... any special edition Apple has ever made was still obtainable – like product Red or such. However i see what you mean and I apologize for responding before reading properly.
