Kanye West says Samsung-Jay Z collaboration drove Apple to buy Beats for cultural credibility - Page 2

"Credibility" and "Kanye West" don't seem to go together. Ask Annie Leibovitz, who thankfully had the gumption to say no. Kanye West, who is reportedly in dire financial straits until Jay-Z provided a much-needed lifetime (in exchange for control over his business affairs), is just repaying his boss whose much-heralded co-branding undertaking with a corrupt Korean chaebol was a monumental flop.

Kanye West! Hilarious!

So Apple 'lost touch with culture in 2011' did they?

Kanye has yet to make contact with it.

I know these guys are just part of a perfectly harmless legit cultural style and all, but I still think they are a bunch of thugs, but that is just my opinion. I still don't get why Apple wants to be so closely associated with with Dre and his ilk. Even that older iChat session seemed like a real sell out from Jobs... just pimppin' iTunes.

It is easy to find all these loser's arrest records with a quick Google search, including the one below: I'm assuming the 'Steve Stoute' pictured above is the same as mentioned in this excerpt from an article about Sean Combs' brushes with the law.

Sean

There are a number of the same sorts of arrest records for Andre Young, but I'll let you find those for yourselves.

This is a fun webpage too.

Legit cultural style my ass!

Let me educate you. Many famous people of ALL skin colors have been arrested and have mugshots. I hope you are not saying somehow rappers and the like get arrested more than others in the industry. Martha Stewart went to Federal Prison (not county jail -- FEDERAL PRISON!!). Bill Gates has a mugshot out there. Steve Jobs took all kind of drugs and abandoned his first child. I would never say or remotely suggest they are bad people. Comment on ass-clown Kanye, but keep the profiling alone, Mr. Zimmerman.

Inspired by Mr. West:

AI was getting stale and old; the veteran laggards TS, Solip, Macky, Slurpy etc. were bringing up the rear. Dilger? Pssh. It wasn't until the great and mighty Benjamin Frost graced the forums with his presence and instant cultural cachet that AI truly caught fire once again.

🎺

Edit: ugh.

I wonder if Samsung moving in on Nuance is a way for Samsung to have Apple overpay for Nuance. Seems a little similar to what happened with Beat/Samsung/Apple.

I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would see a piece on what Kanye West has to say, about any subject, on this site.

That Jay-Z stunt with Samsung was a joke. The App was criticized for requiring excessive permissions and didn't work (or was slow) for many.

Meanwhile, Beyonce did an exclusive iTunes release of her album and set a record for 800,000 sales in 3 days.

We all know who's king if you want to do some sort of album promotion.

"Mr Schiller Apple’s marketing chief sent an email to his team titled “Has Apple lost its cool to Samsung?” which contained just one line: “We have a lot of work to do to turn this around.”

That's why Apple has bought Beats. Everything else is lied from Apple.

No, you’ve completely and utterly misunderstood literally every single aspect of what you’re saying. It’s astonishing that someone could have this great a lack of comprehension and not be trolling.

Right Kanye- because we all know how culturally significant JayZ is.

Why is Appleinsider even reporting this drek? It's like the Daily Mirror here sometimes.

Not sure, but if that is Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr,, then shortly after graduating from high school, he was arrested for possession of cocaine, and for the following three years was frequently in and out of prison.

Getting arrested does not a convicted felon make.

No but many men that were ultimately found not guilty spent time in jail. Suspects can often times spend months even years locked up before a trial.

True, locked up in county, but you do not go to prison unless convicted.

Depends on the charge. The federal government doesn’t have 'county jails'.

Jay Z partnering with Samsung has about as much credibility has Kanye has talent.

Photos of 11 different times Jay Z used an iPhone and not a Samsung.

Since when is making fun of someone considered racism? Or are certain ethnic groups off limits for criticism?

I made general statements between getting arrested and getting convicted. As far as I know convicted felons don't spend time in and out of prison for 3 yrs. You might walk in now and come out 3 yrs later. The minimum sentence for a state felony is 1 yr, if one commits another crime the next sentence will probably be no less than 5 yrs. A convicted felon has to be convicted of a felony not some BS misdemeanor charge.

It has nothing to do with race but with relevance. As far as I know Kanye isn't a big wig in the tech world, so any opinions he might have shouldn't be given much weight.

It's Kanye West. Ninety-nine percent of the jokes about Kanye have nothing to do with race. All he has to do is open his mouth and say something ridiculous. Perhaps this video clip will explain:

kanye west is a total azzhole, and he proved that at the 2009 VMA awards. i don't understand why anyone gives a damn about this clueless fool or what he has to say.

apple execs aren't hacks... and they didn't spend $3b for street cred. sorry kanye... but that's just asinine bs. on second thought... i'm not sorry. stick to your gangster rap kanye... leave the corporate strategy theories to people that understand corporate strategy.
