Dark Side of the Moon

28th June 1997, The classic Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon spent its 1056th week on the US album chart. It was rumoured at the time that if the album was played while watching The Wizard of Oz movie, and started exactly when the MGM lion roared the third time during the movie's intro, very interesting connections could be made between the two. Ever tried this?

Yes, a long time ago, though I wouldn't be able to tell you if it actually synced up because I was on Acid at the time. Enjoyable experience none the same.

When I looked up "Ninjas" in Thesaurus.com, it said "Ninja's can't be found" Well played Ninjas, well played.

Very moving. I think The Final Cut is my second favourite Pink Floyd album.

How are you doing? My fever has gone.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm hanging in there, still raising hell with the nursing staff so that's a good sign. I have a new roommate, a very lovely little girl. Though I'm not a very big fan of the amount of people she has visiting her and apparently nor is she as she seems more relaxed when they aren't there. A very awkward situation when your family wants to visit, thinking they are being supportive but all you want to do is rest. Especially when you don't feel good and are heavily drugged.

It's been kind of nice having someone to play with during the day. She like all 12 year old's wants to be a singer and since I brought enough tech with me to start my own lable, we have been working on a song together. It's a lot of fun to hear someone say I never knew you could do that on an iPad. Her creepy uncle gave her his old iPad 3, I say creepy because I like to sleep with one leg tucked in my covers and one leg exposed, it's more comfortable because I have a catheter in me and I like to prop the tube over my teddy bear Phillybearly, the problem with this position is if someone was to look for something they would easily find it. I was woken by a nurse who told me she caught this man staring down the trench as if he was friggen Luke SkyWalker looking for the thermal exhaust port(though hopefully mine is smaller then 2m) and recommended that I cover up. I now cover up when other people are in the room but I honestly shouldn't have too, sorry but some men are really gross sometimes. I mean I look like complete and utter doogy doo doo, my hair, what little I have, is pointing in every which direction, my arms and legs are so bruised from injection sites you would think I was in the hospital for spousal abuse, my chest is covered with bandages that are constantly seeping and let's just say I have forego certain grooming practices. Though not 70's porno bad, I know where your mind was going, see gross.

Anyway My daughter has about 300 bucks worth of iTunes gift cards that she has yet to redeem so I took one and loaded this little girls iPad with as many music apps and games that the card had to give. I want to encourage her to continue making music when she hopefully goes home. I'm letting her use my Apogee One to record her voice with while we're here but I told my husband to pick up a little Blue Mikey, which is a very clever little microphone that you plug directly into the Thunderport, I'll give it to her before one of us leaves.

I think I mentioned before that I am in the children's ward because my doctors practice is here. So when you first come in there is a teddy bear on the bed, a really cute one too. When this little girl got here her mother took the bear and put it into the closet, saying you're too old for that honey, well I could see in the girls eyes she wanted that bear. Heck, I turn 40 soon and I still wanted the bear, I almost tackled one of the nurses when they tried to take him away, thinking the same thing, oh she's too old for that. Well I always bring my stuffed Alaskan Malamute when I go to the hospital. As I sleep with the farting, snoring, pillow hogging real thing on a nightly basis I want something that reminds me of the fur ball, not to mention it's comforting. By the way, there isn't a single cancer patient that I haven't met who doesn't sleep with a stuffed animal when in the hospital. So when her parents left I told her to get the bear, she said I was going to anyway when I saw that you had two in your bed. I told her I would have more if it wasn't for the size of the bed.

Out of all of gadgets that I have with me, my new Teenage Engineering OP-1 is just the coolest. You could produce an entire song using only this little ingenious gadget, It doesn't look like much either. It even has a built in radio tuner so you could record a song, chop it up and use some of the parts that you want, even load them into the synthesizer, so there is no need for the internet to grab beats or other .way files. I have a Korg MS-20 Mini and all three of Korg Volca series and this little guy could almost match them all by itself, by the way I would recommend anyone into synthesizers to grab those four pieces of Korg tech, their awesome together and can be had for less then a 1000 bucks for the whole set, amazeballs. Anywhoo the OP-1 is one of the best special presents that my husband has ever given me, the thing isn't cheap either, in fact if you saw the price you would think anyone who buys it, is nutso. Still happy I have one though as I have been drooling over it for about a year.

You can watch the videos from their site to get an idea of what can be done with this thing here ->

....and this guy who is a master of the interface make a HipHop beat using a mixture of recordings and his one flavor. Pretty crazy system huh.

Edit: okay I went through and fixed some mistakes in my grammer, it's late here and I'm seeing spots.

Great post, Relic.

Interesting to read about the music stuff. I hope for a larger iPad, so that reading and writing music becomes more feasible.

Funny hearing about the bear shenanigans you had.

I, too, had a bear in hospital.
