Noob Ramblings

Thread Starter
Just a few suggestions from a noob...

1.) Please stop quoting the entire original thread. I point no fingers and name no names. You know who you are.

2.) A few threads, not sure how old they are, suggested an upgrade to vBulletin. Personally I think vB is too much. And not worth purchasing when the alternatives such as phpBB are available for free and have more than enough features. If any of the admins want me to help them setup phpBB or convert the database I can.

3.) Errrm

We already have vBulletin. We've had it for several months. Why haven't we made the switch yet? The MacNN goons haven't given us proper access to the server to do it.

Veteran Ramblings:

The worst is line by line quoting where the replier has something to say for every single quoted paragraph or part of a quoted paragraph, and it goes on forever. If the responses are going to be that frequent, then just put it in paragraph form. It's just annoying having to read a different quote and reply 50-freaking times in one post.

If a paragraph is being refuted point by point, I see nothing wrong with doing that.

The one that bothers me is quoting the entire post when you are posting the FIRST reply in the thread. I've started deleting the quoted text in posts like that in my forums. It's unnecessary.

things like that get boring. I mean, I'm directly under his post, still I quote his entire post, but do not really have to argue with him.

(this is only an example, I don't do that normally, do I ?)

I see that happen very often. I mean, I could also say:

Replying to murbot:

blablablablablabliblibli.

[quote] couldn't we add that to the posting guidelines? I know, it goes a little bit deep, but just as a remainder, not a necessary thing-

Fellowship did that always; quoting the entire post, and then adding something like:

Very Nice !

God Bless,

Fellowship

ARGH !!!!!! (I told him that once, I believe he doesn't do that anymore..)

This post directly refutes your post because Egypt is a country of northeast Africa and the Sinai Peninsula on the Mediterranean Sea. In ancient times it was a flourishing kingdom and one of the earliest known civilizations, known for its development of hieroglyphic writing and its achievements in agriculture, art, and architecture. It reached its height during the XVIII dynasty (1570-1342? B.C.) and declined after the seventh century B.C., falling to various conquerors including the Assyrians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Turks, French, and British. Although nominally independent after 1922, it remained a British protectorate until 1936. A military coup in 1952 overthrew King Farouk I's constitutional monarchy, and a republic was established the following year. Cairo is the capital and the largest city. Population: 48,503,000.
