How to show invisible "." files in Finder?

Thread Starter
How do I get my 10.2.4 Mac to show invisible "dot" files in Finder? I would prefer a terminal command as opposed to a System Prefs hack or app.

I think its something like:

"defaults write apple.foo.foo. foo boolean 1"

I need to POUND this into my head!

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1

Then relaunch the Finder.

i dont see what the diff is though, they both do the same thing the same way...i'd rather go with the terminal though
