I didn't see this posted so I thought I'd throw it out for anyone looking for a new ipod...

If you order one from Dell today (15 May) you get a massive discount. I just ordered a 30 GB for $404.

Works like this: Order from the home store, there's an automatic %10 off and free shipping. Use this coupon # D048D84F4953 when you check out...it's for $45 off a $400 or more purchase. Apparently the coupon expires today, so if you were looking at the 15 or 30 GB, it seems like a pretty good deal!

coupon won't work on the 15 gig model, but is a great deal if you want the 30 gig (404.10 shipped...has a ship time of 1 to 2 weeks...but that is fine with me...have it all set to go in a shopping cart at dell....waiting for a moment of weakness to hit buy now....)

Yeah, I noticed it wouldn't work for the 15,what I meant was that it was a good deal if you were looking to buy the 15 GB because you could get the 30 for the same price.

My wife's gonna kill me tooI bought a canon s50 last week from dell because I got something like $100 bucks off on that toofortunately, she's due (it's a boy) in a month so I can say the camera is for thatnot sure how I'm going to explain this onethe baby needs an ipod? My birthday is coming up, maybe I can pass it off as an early b-day gift.

Anyway, enjoy the new ipod, I'm off to finish ripping my 600 CDs before it shows up!

To get the discounted 15gb one, you need a $1 item to push you over the requirements. I recommend searching for blank cd disks to add to your order.

ok, so i am gonna order the 15 gig iPod at dell and i added some cd-rw disks (a ten pack of TDK for 7 bucks)...my total shipped is 320....not a bad deal...86 bucks off

finally will be an iPod owner and not just an iPod luster


still feels icky to order from dell, but hopefully they are selling them at a loss

heh, I just cancelled my Apple Store order for the 15 gig and put in my order through Dell for the 30 gig. It was just too tempting to double the capacity for $35. My Apple store order was $369 (ed discount) and the Dell order was $404.10. It would be an even better discount for someone who wouldn't have gotten the ed discount through Apple.

thegelding - me and you man! But I have a feeling they're pretty backordered on these, and the wait will probably be a bit longer coming from Dell rather than straight from Apple. My guess is early June.

yeah, it is tempting to throw the extra 84 bucks and get the 30 gig...but if i ever need 30 gigs of songs at my mobile fingertips, somebody just shoot me in the head because i will have lost my mind...and i have a lacie 80 gig firewire external drive if i really need to move a huge amount of data...so i think i will be safe with a 15 gig model...lots of tunes, my contacts and iCal and even a few files if needed...

gonna hit the buy button in ten minutes...anyone want to convince me to get the 30 gig model??

too late...ordered the 15 gig model...weeeeee, sometime in june i will be an iPod owner...and probably hiding a ups or fedex box from the wife...

I knew about the 10% discount but not about the coupon, didn't even see it on techbargains.com Where did see the coupon

Anyway I just ordered a 15 gigger for my sister, she's wanted one since she played with my ipod and the extra $45 discount made getting her one an easy decision.

Shw will be thrilled (and shocked)!

That deal was just too hot, I ordered the 30GB. This will be my very first ipod, and man... I am so looking forward to it.

I originally ordered an iPod on the 2nd of May from Dell (the day of the other good deal). However, they said the coupon expired (even though other people got it to work) and they promised me free shipping. Well, I looked in there and they added shipping. Plus, come May 9th, the day it was supposed to ship, it was delayed to the 20th! I was very pissed. So, I am in the process of canceling my order and making a new order with this discount. It should ship much later than my other one is supposed to. Stupid Dell. I don't think I will buy anything from them again. They also gave me the damnest time when I was trying to return my broken monitor.

I just Google for 'dell coupons'...they seem to show up on random days, so you need a little bit of luck too.

I think they just sold out of them. There was a decent wait on shipping when I ordered mine today so it makes sense that if they ran out of product to take them off the site.

Hmm that is weird. I cancelled my order for the 30 gig today and re-ordered the 15 gig no problem. It was about 5 Eastern.

Your Dell order has already arrived? Wow, I hate Dell even more now. Jeesus Christ, I ordered my first one on May 2nd. The original ship date was the 9th. Then they pushed it back to the 20th. So, on the 15th, I ordered another one with a lower price with the intent of canceling the more expensive one. Then they pushed back both shipping dates to the beginning of June. We called to cancel the first one and they require you to cancel with the person who sold it to you (who, in our case, is never around). Then we got two phone calls saying they would cancel the more expensive one today if we didn't contact them. So far it has not been cancelled. Add to that the fact that their website is so inconsistant and unuserfriendly. Plus, their e-mail support blows the big one. I hate Dell with a passion now. They can't do anything right for me. Errr, I want to scream.

Interesting... I ordered the 15GB on the afternoon of the 19th and it gave me a ship date of 6/5/03. Anyone get this date? I'm kinda jealous of the people that have a ship date of late May. Perhaps I was one of the last to get my order in before they pulled the iPods from the site?

Yeah right, Dell is great.
I order the 15gig iPod for my sister a few days ago, to get the discount I also ordered an ink cartridge to push the total over $400. The iPod said 1-2 week delivery, the ink cartride same day delivery.

Since I was on vacation and didn't want the ink cart to come and sit at my front door, I called Dell to ask if it were possible to hold the ink cartridge and deliver it together with the iPod.

The guy I spoke to said no problem, he set it up, took the order and gave me an order #.
When I tried to track the order a couple of days later (to make sure the ink cartridge didn't ship), I get a dialogue box that I needed a customer # but since I was going out I forgot about it.

So yesterday I come home from vacation and there are three UPS info notices stuck to my door, the last one saying it was a final delivery attempt!

I call Dell immediately and give my order # and the woman tells me that neither the ink cartridge or the iPod has shipped yet.

I tell her that's interesting since all three info notices say the package is from Dell.
she gets curt and says "sir, I'm telling you that nothing from Dell has shipped to the order # you gave me, nor to either your name or your address, I can't help you".

It's a wonder Dell is doing so well.

You can find bad stories with any company, especially with a company as large as Dell. I have no compaints with them. I got a 20GB iPod for $284 after the 3G iPod came out.

Well, i would never buy a computer from them, but they did get me my iPod in five days (from order to doorstep)...so i can't complain...free shipping, no tax and about 50 bucks cheaper than apple education store....weeeeeee

course now i want to buy all the accessories and whatnot....

I got that e-mail as well. This is the third time it has been delayed. It was originally supposed to ship on the 9th of this month. I cancelled that one when the better deal came out (with the same estimated ship date). I HATE DELL!
