Do any of you think the flat panel iMac will get a new processor in 2003, or will it keep the G4 with speedbump(s) for all of next year? Is all the talk about the new processor(s) to come for just the tower units in 2003? Thanks for the input....

thicker wires actually reduces resistance, and thereby heat. What makes a circuit produced on a larger process slower is mostly the increased capacitance due to larger features, and to some extent, the greater distance between transistors.

Woops, my bad. And the higher capacitance means it takes more time to switch between states. I have no idea where the 'heat' comment came from.

I would be extremely surprised if the flat panel iMac got the 970. My opinion on that is that Apple will keep a Moto chip in the FP iMac, the new 970 will go into the PowerMacs and later ... the PowerBooks. when the PowerBooks get the 970, I would expect the iBook to get a Moto chip. But that's just my opinion.

That would account for the way the discussions go in circles.

 How true.

Although, in xype's defense (in regards to the 3.061 part of his post that prompted this), he's from Austria and the period is used in place of the coma to separate the thousands/ millions etc. So he just could've meant 3,061.

Still, "Moebius loop" gotta like it. Concise, and well said.

Heh, I'm a mutt, but half slovenian. Don't worry about the differences. It provided some comedy for these boards (in the misinterpretation), and that is a good thing.
