are you sure he said "dual-processor" and not meant "dual-USB" [aka. the present iBook]?

I have my bet on he's lying.

It would be pretty neato, though. But I think duals would go into the powerbook first, if at all. A G3 would be a good chip to use though, because of low power and heat.

I dont think the world is ready yet for dual processor laptops.

worst thread ever.
Attention Internet Users!

"it's" contraction of "it is"
"its" possessive form of the pronoun "it".

It's shameful how grammar on the Internet is losing its accuracy.

he didn't say they are coming out, he said he made it for himelf, and yes he said dual processors

it is likly he is lying but you never know and he seemed to know enough about apple (although nothing much more then we do...at least that he talked about)

i was talking to him in a ghost recon game i was hosting

oh well if it woudl happen...you heard it here first...i got possibly though probably not insider info of something that exists, although he again didnt' say its coming out

Some guy in a Ghost Recon chat claims to have built a dual processor G3 iBook and you think that's worthy of serious comment? 100 posts is more than enough to know there's already a big signal to noise ratio problem on these boards and silliness like this doesn't help.

i didn't mean to insult you...well ok ok i did but perhaps it was a bit rash...as too was ur comment. I agree this is 99% probable bull, but it has been discussed so much around here without ANY proof even verbal of it being done, and this although almost definatly fake is at least something, so i figured those people woudl like to know.

*and although it is most likely fake, if it would slip out, it would be casual conversation, he wouldn't hold a press conference about it

That would mean he made a motherboard himself. It is not entirely impossible in theory, but quite unbelievable in practice. He's either a liar or a dreamer.

Worst thread ever? I've seen a lot of bad threads here, so I don't think so. Bad thread? That's another question. At least it didn't have "CONFIRMED!" in the title.

In some companies, you can scavenge prototype parts and roll your on, as it were. I doubt that's possible at Apple, where I'm sure they post a guard, two dogs and the reincarnation of Hydra in front of their garbage.

Also, has anyone seen an actual dual-proc G3 in any computer? You just don't slap a two G3s together and get them to play nice.

I only popped into this thread because I'm an eternal optimist... and because I think my 600 iBook is getting slow.

did I not read somewhere that a duel 1ghz G4 machine is inline with a P4 3Ghz in terms of getting things done?

Therefore, perhaps apple might have considered a duel cpu laptop as a way to keep up. However, when you think about the items in a laptop that eat battery life they are prolly in this order:-

1 - Screen.
2 - Hard Drive
3 - CD ROM
4 - CPU
5 - Cooling Fans
5 - The rest of the system.

In order to speed up laptops there are more battery efficient ways to be exhausted before anyone would consider adding another CPU and Fan.

Perhaps this guy is just a hobbist. I remember when someone made an amiga "laptop" It looked like a suitcase!!!

Dear god will people PLEASE stop posting threads about things they "heard".

I heard from someone who i cant say that they're going to skip straight to the G7, and use quad 4.0 ghz chips. Im not sure he's telling the truth i just thought i'd pass it along.

Just as dumb as your thread.
well actually this thread is dumber because that actually has a remote possibility oh being correct in the next 5-10 years or so...

we will *never* see dual G3s.... it just isn't the kind of chip that plays well in pairs...
the SMP instruction set is screwed up or something... even worse then the 604e chips... that was one of the major improvements of the G4

While he was in there, he should have added a third processor. Now THAT would be fast.

I'm not allowed to have an opinion because i dont have as many posts as you? Is someone measured by their post count on these boards?
Just a note: I used to be registered as SameOldSht with well over 400 posts since i registered it back before the cube came out. Due to some problems with the board, my registration was lost and i had to take a new name.
