iMac G4 is faster than the PowerMac G4!!!

Well maybe not any modern PowerMac. I DO know it's got a faster processor than the current entry-level PM, but the PM has a faster bus. Hmm.

I wonder how the gigafloppage compares to the Power Mac 733. Can someone go to an Apple Store and run AltiVec fractal Carbon for me? Tell me how fast this baby is.

I haven't seen any real-world benchmarks on the new iMac, but the extra 67mhz is probably not enough to overcome the Powermac's faster bus, and bigger/better cache, and faster hard drive.

Still, I agree that it creates a strange perception when Apple sells a Powermac at a lower clock speed than an iMac.

I'd love to see what the iMac pulls in RC5. I've gotten 1.5 MKeys/sec on my iMac 500.

sizzle: the cache on the iMac and the Powermac 733 is identical.

I'd like to see a shootout between iMac and a Powermac 733 myself.

Wow i never noticed that the low end PM had no level 3 cache. Does that mean its a 7440 in there instead of a 7450?
