Is the requirement 1000 posts?

In that case, I believe that I now qualify.

I would like to request my title to say - Banned

If this is not possible or if it is against any rules, then I will come up with something else.

Thanks -

Maybe somebody is on vacation or something. I requested my title over 300 posts ago.

That's ok, because I'd like to change my request and would like for my title to say "Fandroid Killer".

Thanks.

I'm changing the title and sticking this thread. From here on out, if you want your title changed and have more than 1000 posts, state your request here and we'll take care of it as soon as possible.

Titles will be given at our discretion.

I would like to have the custom title Time Lord.

Huddler has a title system built in that users can edit on their own (so does vBulletin), but we have it turned off. Had it turned off before, too.

I'm not sure why, but I bet it stems from the original forum (pre-vBulletin) not having the feature at all. Maybe put in a request for it to be turned it on?

Thanks, I guess having the users edit the title would be undesirable. I assumed that there's a way for the admins do it (given that pre-existing titles have carried over to the newest forum).

I'd like mine to say "Sick of Nvidia but can't change my username"

Well, you're lucky that you also put the year then, it's like a historical tribute :-)

Cheers... Yeah, 2008 was the peak of discrete GPUs, notably Nvidia. Sadly, it all went downhill since then.

What can I say, I feel cheated. I was hoping to impress a girl with my title. I worked really hard to reach 1000 posts... Now I don't see the point any longer...

Here are a few simple things Ai admins could have done to avoid misleading community members into believing that a mechanism for obtaining a custom title existed:

  1. Close this thread
  2. Post a rebuttal in this thread
  3. "Unsticky" the thread
  4. Make custom titles available via the user control panel
  5. Increase the necessary number of posts to 1 googol
  6. Answer recent requests about titles with a definitive and clear statement
  7. Provide title customization as promised in the beginning of the thread

At least one of those things would have been sufficient. Alas, none of those actions were taken.

One should probably consider what function is fulfilled by custom titles. One thing I can think of is making your account more personal. As it is now, a user can open a new account, and lose nothing. If there is a token of an achievement associated with the account though, then a user will be less likely to jeopardize his account by trolling or flaming.

With the new system for giving thumbs up for useful posts, one could change the criteria from 1000 posts (which only takes into account quantity) to something like 100 thumbs up (which would consider perceived post quality in a democratic fashion).

I second DrDoppio's motions.

I apologize for "bumping" the thread, but it's been nearly 3 months since my last request (see above). May I please have my title removed? Thanks!

Went back just now and double-checked.

Mods don't have access to that field for other users (or even ourselves), and lundy (admin) can't seem to find where to either edit it or to just turn it on so that all users can set their own titles.

I'll do some digging, but you're probably stuck with it for the time being.

UPDATE

I'm an admin now, so the user title box is editable again. I'm actually going to try to find out how to get that user-editable, but until then I'd like to start our old policy right back up again.

If you have over 1,000 posts and would like a user title, post in this thread and I'll add it to your account.

Only a few rules:

1. Acceptance of the title content is at our discretion

2. Titles that fit into one line in the sidebar there would be best.

3. There are a few titles that I'm not going to allow, simply for confusion's sake:

  • Moderator
  • Global Moderator
  • Administrator
  • Insider
  • Privileges Revoked
  • Huddler Team
  • Moderator Emeritus

Yes, you may request "Banned". lol.gif At least unless (until?) it becomes another point of confusion.

Wow.  Blew past 1000 posts and didn't even notice!

I'd like the following title:

I wasn't sure that would get approval by the board.

This (plus the tagline about sensationalism) should show up at the top of every page.
