Just curious.....

G4 500 Dual
1.5 GB RAM
Two 60GB HDs (One IBM and one Seagate), both 7200rpm
Apple OEM Radeon
Zip Drive
DVD-ROM
No warez , only those that come with the system

Apple Care til Jan 2004

I think that's it.....

I haven't decided if I should sell it now or not. But if I am lucky I get a good offer I will get rid of it and get a Dual 1Ghz

I dunno, I'd put that around $2000 just because of the RAM and HDD, but think about what's available today compared to that machine...

Considering you can get a brand new 800 MHz G4 with a better video card and CD-RW for for $1600.

Oh, the AppleCare, I don't know...maybe add $100.

You can always remove one of the hard drives and some of the memory and sell it easier. I'd give $1100 for it. I can get a 733 for $1299.................

I'm in the market for the DP500 to make my Cube what it should have been - a dual 500. I have offered $1000 for a stock DP500 AGP, and might get it from a user who wants to upgrade to a DP-GHz as you do. I told the gentleman that he could probably do better on eBay with it but I'll hand him the cash and help him setup his new machine. I might even let him just install his old HD as a slave in his new system if he will shave the price point further.

You system will command an unusually high resale as Cube owners get wise to the hardware hack of swapping daughter cards. What would you want for a bare system? keep the drives and the memory, I just want the processor card.

I don't know either. Maybe it's the dual?

I did check out my local buy and sell paper and I found out some people are selling their Dual 450 G4s (256MB RAM, 40GB HD, NO warranty) for $2500 CDN (roughly $1600US)

$2500 CDN for a dual 450?!

Holy crap!

I can't see a dual 450 being that much better than my new 800, which I paid $2485 CDN for, with better video card, faster HD, 24x CD-RW, new case, warranty, blah blah....

I guess some people want a dual at any cost...

You know? If I really find a buyer that is dumb enough to take my Dual 500 G4 (with 512MB and only one 40GB OEM hard drive) for 2600 CDN I will sell it to him right away.

I actually bought this tower last September for $2350 CDN (no HD, no RAM, no video card) then I added RAM, HD, and the video card on my own.....then bought the Apple Care.

Why don't you go to ebay and see what they are selling for? People say the prices aren't accurate, but I've only seen evidence to the contrary. If anything, selling on ebay will get you more money for it than selling it on the street.

I'll be asking this very same question in a few months.

DP 1 GHz G4/1.5 GB RAM/80 GB/Superdrive/GF4MX 64 MB DDR

How much will it get in 4 months?

Tiger, why MUST you sell it when the G5 comes out? Your Dual GHz is still gunna be an amazing computer.
I know I know...but I don't really wanna buy into the last of the G4s. There are a few gripes I have with the system I just bought, but those aren't even really related to processor performance! I still see that spinning circle though when launching iDVD 2. I'd say a few things I'm concerned about is old mobo technology, as I feel a few new technologies might be introduced with the G5. But alas, I wish Apple gave me 2 FULL DRIVE BAYS in this case! Also while it's OK, I don't really like the fact that I have no way of manually opening up the drive. A new case with lots of drive bays would entice me, as well as the move to GF4 Ti standard. Besides, if I can get some poor bastard to pay too much for my system, why not do it and once again have the fastest Mac on the planet? I say why not. I haven't tested game performance but I think a G5 could make great strides in that area. We'll see once Logic and Cubase for X come my way. That and I just like having the best.
