Software Update not working, please help!

I keep getting this error whenever I try to install any updates. It first happened with the most recent iCal, and now the security update. I repaired permissions and found nothing wrong, then I booted off the Diskwarrior and that repaired stuff, but didn't fix this.

Any ideas?

hmmm

you may need to manually check and change the permissions of the file/directory listed.

Type the following into the Terminal:
Code:

ls -l /tmp/501/


and post what it spits back out at you.

That Apple Discussions page seems to hold the solution to my problem; I uninstalled dev tools last month. I'll see how this goes. It seems the uninstall script f*x up important parts of the OS?!
