Ti Book won't shut down

A co-worker's Tibook won't shut down becuase when he closes out of Entourage the program shuts down and then opens right back up. Then the computer won't allow him to force quit it and/or shut down.

Apparantly it is now happening with iTunes as well. He has repaired permissions.

Any ideas?

That happens to me too with iTunes. Is he running PTHiTunes Notifier? That's what causes it for me. Just quit a few times or force quit and it fixes it. Why would he shut down anyway? Just sleep the thing. It could also be that he has them in startup items too and something is going haywire with that.
Come waste your time with me

I don't know if works for the tibooks. For a short time fix you could do a force shut down. I don't know if it will effect the computer. I say once he does it call apple and say what could be the problem and if they send it to them send it.

It is not a matter of just sleeping the computer. He can't shut down the apps at all, ever. They always re-open immdiatly after closing them. I have watched it and I haven't seen anything like it before.

If he's using 10.3, tell him to open Activity Monitor (in /Applications/Utilities) and do the following:

Choose "My Processes" from the show popup menu in the toolbar.
Sort by Process Name.
Select "Window Server."
Click Quit Process in the toolbar.
Choose Force Quit from the sheet.

If before 10.3, use 'top' in the Terminal to find the process ID of the window manager. Then, kill that number.

That should quit *everything* that's running under his user. Then he should be able to shut down.

Thanks. I'll post back if that doesn't solve it.
