Library 3.0 - Page 4

iDunno you might need to refresh. I can see on the website that it clearly states 14 days.

Nice. And EXTREMELY nice of them to price it at $40 after all the responses on this thread that supported a price of $50. I can't wait!

Yeah it's a great price, I just hope the price for the scanner includes Library!

I can see the 14 days part... but I certainly can't see anywhere showing a price.

BTW I like the fact that you can download their vCards. I only like this fact because I am an Address Book demon! This is especially good for if ever they want to borrow something from my Library 3.0

It shouldn't be trembling too much with a mere $39.95 price tag.

Of course, if you go for the scanner, then you'll take a hit. Although I used the beta version with my mini-DV camcorder and Library worked well with it. The real trick is to get the UPC bars to be perpendicular to the 'laser' lines shown in the display window on your monitor. I found it would take about 3-5 seconds for Library to recognize the bar code once I got the UPC bars properly aligned.

You know what I just thought of.....

With Library, when exporting to an iPod Photo, will it show the covert artwork for the book, DVD, CD, etc? I am sure not in this version but I wonder how difficult that would be to code into the program.....
I just saw this image on Mike's blog, and I would love to see the ability to create a nice hi-res shot of a dvd box like this. Also, what comes to mind now is different materials for the shelves.... if they wanted to.

it may be too early to know what kind of openings there are in the iPod for developers to put in their own programs. I would not want to be scrolling through my photos a suddenly hit thirty DVD covers. Hopefully, you will be able to create a folder of photos that are separate from your photo library. Or developers can write little programs that can be put onto the iPod.

iPod Photo allows you to browse through specific iPhoto photo albums, not just the whole Library, just as you can browse specific iTunes playlists. So, in theory, you could have a "Delicious" album in iPhoto with your DVD covers.

So you can keep your porn collection completely separate from your pictures of the kids.

I was wrong with the date. Looks like it is 8-NOV-2004. Sorry about any confusion.

yeah, but it would be more ideal that it was in "Photos" because they are not photos but just "Delicious Monster Covers."

Cool piece of software and congrats for the award at the O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference.

I wonder if I can use Delicious Library for software CD cases as Music CDs and storing serial numbers and Licenses files?

Release date seems to be sneakily slipping. It's been 'Coming in 9 days' for 2 days now.

I guess there will nt be anymore major excitment about this application until it launches in four days! I will be in Reno when it comes out but I will be hoping I will have made some money to purchase this and the barcode scanner!
I bet they would make 5 bucks more on a plug-in that allows for showing bottles of wine on shelves... eh? Some people do collect wine! Or magazines! Show magazine covers from a certain monfth.

The big question is...when is it going to be released tomorrow.

Is it going to be released at midnight "their time"...1 day is 24 hours, and it's almost been 24 hours, so logically, the app *should* be released at midnight. (This scenario is highly improbable... )

Or is it going to be released late tomorrow late night?

The pessimistic side of me thinks it'll be released late tomorrow night. The optimistic side hopes that I can download this thing and register it tomorrow morning.

I mean, they should do it at 12 AM EST, although they live on PST, and I want it ASAP. I have a feeling tomorrow at 9 AM EST.... although that is just a feeling, and I need "More than a Feeling"-Boston.
Well it's out. But I can't get anything to scan in.

edit: my bad...most books and DVDs scan in except for the weird DVDs that insist on putting "(Version Fran├žaise)" on the DVD. That's the drawback of living in Canada (at least in Quebec)...the ISBN must not be in the US Amazon databases.
Paid in full (even though I own "Books", a competing product, it's not listed on their sidegrade menu, so I paid the extra $10 anyway).

Disappointed that only Amazon US is supported. Firsd DVD I tried to enter via barcode was UK edition Trainspotting. Failed. The US editions available via Amazon had the wrong info.

Please add Amazon UK and Canadian support in the next revision!!!! PLEEEAASSE!

It's getting UK books and prices just fine for me... but it isn't for a friend. We've tried trashing prefs and everything - so dunno how it decides which site to use!

It is getting info for Aussie stuff from the US site, but no ocver images obviously, and only VHS...

ie, it is giving me on image and only VHS info for the Aussie flick starring Heath Ledger, Two Hands (piss funny film for those who haven't seen it)

I would buy it in a heartbeat if it had one addition...

Comics.

I have something on the order of 10,000 comics and rising weekly. I'd love to know what I actually have sometime... :}

Yeah, well, that's in addition to the few thousand books I have. :} Oddly enough, there are only about 400 CD and 100 DVD/VHS tapes lying about... I feel like such a slacker in those departments.

Yeah, you are such a slacker when it comes to activities that allow your brain to switch off... I'm very disappointed in you.

In regards to Lirary... do you need to have an iSight attached to it for the option to appear? Because I can't see any buttons or mention of barcode scanning... but this could be because i am iSight-less.

It appears that way, I unplugged my iSight and the button (between the add and action button) disappeared.

in movies, type in the title of a movie. say 'kill bill'

the results you get are actually books not movies!

or is it just me?

I need a little help scanning with my iSight. Am I right that you do the following steps:

1) Click on the plus sign to add an item,
2) Next click on the video button that shows the video window,
3) After you scan the barcode, press "Show iSight".

If I am wrong, please inform me of the correct way. Also, when you scan, do you just scan the barcode itself or do you scan the barcode plus the corresponding numbers?

Just click the video icon to open the black & white little video window with the red scan lines across it. Hold the item about 3 inches from the iSight so that at least one of the red scan lines crosses the barcode horizontally. That should be all you have to do.
