Did you read/watch etc... it?

When criticism of Michael Moore, or Al Franken occurs the first word out of every person who desires to defend them is, "well did you read their book or watch their movie?"

Refusal to deal with their products is seen as ignorance and thus arguments about claims they have made are declared null and void since you can't argue about something you don't know.

We see a lot of folks around here making severe claims about Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and the book that hold their claims, Unfit for Command.

Not only did they claim that you had to have read or viewed the material to be able to criticize it, you had better be able to point to the actual passages, maybe even the actual page numbers if you are going to make a claim about that group/person and their intent.

So I ask here now the question you asked of so many others when the target was Michael Moore or Al Franken.

Did you by "Unfit for Command" or read it? If not then how can you criticize the claims made in the book?
