EDIT: Cutting and pasting from Chatmade me think the keyboard was wireless, but it isn't. My apologies.

EDIT 2: Apparently I can't cut and paste. Three models only.

EDIT 3: Sorry, missed the DVD model. There are four models.

smells like shit.

but if it's true, 14.1 is a big freaking mistake, and not worth the trouble. Come to think of it, it may be true.

G3 is a big mistake too.
Yeah i was there in chat aswell... CompUSA said he couldn't register for an account here.

My first thought is what on earth is MouseMac?

This is the best iMac 'inside' info that I have seen so far.. Not too far fetched and with some unheard of features.

I believe it.
Think different. But still think.

not necessarily true. 14.1 at the ibook lcd's resolution is pretty decent. it's about screen real estate more than actual screen size.
Do we have to resurrect the pre-emptive post-Macworld piss thread already?

Reasonable specs. Sorry about that.

I noticed that too but it seems to just be a typo. The "Mac" part should be with OS X

Forgive my ignorance of ATI, but how does the Radeon 7000 stack up against, say the original Radeon or a GeForce 2MX or 3?
It sounds right on the mark. That would essential be my Pismo just double speed four times ram, I-wont-even-calculate-double the HD at half the price.

It would be good for the iMac (not saying its the deal). But this really canĀ“t be all.

Everyone go to #OrangeInsider on irc.webchatting.com or go to http://www.orangeinsider.com/chat/

Much better chat and if you use an IRC client, then you can cut and paste.

Actually, I find these configurations plausible. We'll see in five days.

Think about it, if the iMac was going to have a G3 and a 14.1" LCD screen, would they be posting all these messages creating hype on their website? I think not.
A 14.1 inch LCD is FAR better than the current screen. The iMac would NEVER get a 15 inch this time round unless Apple axed the 15 inch ASD

There. I've got confirmation that this is what COMPUSA Chimp is telling me. The way it stands now (4 models 1 CRT and 3 LCDs) is what he told me.

Personally, I cannot vouch for it, but I just thought I'd pass it on.

FWIW, it sounds about right, IMO.

I believe that the healthy dose of skepticism rubs both ways: he could easily be wrong. So could your expectations.

There's a good boy, suckfuldotcom. Right in the thick of it!

Why are they sticking a 14" CRT in the low-end model? I doubt they would downgrade the current iMac's screen size, especially after all the pressure they have gotten to increase it.
It's definately possible. I hope it's not, but it really could be.

I was wondering what the "Classic" color is in the entry level iMac. Is it like Bondi or what?

I didn't even notice that. What's the deal with a smaller CRT than they have now?

Who can't make up part numbers?

Press releases from IBM (the only people making fast G3s) say 1GHz G3 not before middle of this year, they are sampling them in Q1 2002.

It's possible that the hyped up messages on Apple's website refer to something else (like another consumer product), or, perhaps, your expectations are too high...

We'll see for sure in five days.

I think that's the viewable size.

Anyway, in this case, I'm just reporting, not speculating, so I'll shut up now.

Maybe, they are affected by new regulations in some countries that say CRT sizes must give visible dimensions. That would make 14 inches bigger than the current 12.5 inches (approx. visible)

AFAIK, there's no Radeon 7000.

14" sounds suspicious.
I got confused earlier.. I thought 'MouseMac' was some new feature which we hadn't heard of - This made the story seem more plausable. Turns out it was a Typo (should be Mouse / Mac OS X) silly me

I still think those aren't bad specs...

And what on earth is wrong with an LCD 14.1 - It's bigger than the CRT in current iMacs. iMac is designed for home users and i think that would be a fine size.

Yes it does.

I very much doubt anybody at CompUSA knows what's coming from Apple. Plus I'm hardly "Blown away" by these specs.
My understanding was also that 1GHz G3's weren't coming until later in the year -- like July. and that's a very good point about the CRT. This could very well mean that suckfuldotcom was given inaccurate info. Still, you better be ready for specs like these. We go through this letdown from over-inflated every time. Perhaps we should prepare a little better for these things and the letdown won't be so great.

why are there 2 parts exactly the same for the same price?

Colours?

One is the DVDROM, the other is the CDRW. As for colors, I asked him about that and he said no colors were listed for the LCDs.
