Matsu, I agree Apple's certainly hyping this expo like crazy so any disappointment will be by them overplaying their hand at this point. I'm just trying to dampen my (and possibly others') expectations. Hope for the best, expect the worst. Makes for fewer letdowns. But the specs given, while wonky in places, are within the scope of an iMac revision, a logical progression of the current specs.

Two models with the only difference being the optical drive is totally stupid. Makes no freakin sense.

I really think we will see a 15" LCD.

The radeon is reasonable.

The 1 GHZ G3 maybe a bit high.

Ram configs are reasonable as are the HD's.

Its not real hard to guess the specs on the iMac.

I think its really just a matter if they will be G3 or G4.

Read the links, the 750FX will be sampling in January. This means it will not be widely available for several months after that, and also in speeds up to 1GHz, that will certainly not be the introduction speed.

the part number for the 14.1 CRT iMac cited in the original post is in fact that of the Mac OS X 10.1 upgrade.

I don't think 14.1" is something to complain about considering it's just an iMac. Before the Ti, I used a Pismo as my main computer and didn't find the screen too small for daily use.

Someone just told me that: M8545LL/A is the part number for OS X 10.1 (and he would have any reason to lie) if anyone wants to confirm this could settle this once and for all... Then again, around here maybe not.. =)

For an iBook it's perfect. But the iMac needs a G4 if it's going to be the digital hub in a household. Multimedea takes to much advantage of a simd unit.

I can see a CRT iMac model if it is only available to the education market, like Apple did with the 533 G4 tower, but I can't see it that way in the main product line.

Please. All of his books follow the same pattern:

Write lots of stuff about lots of characters. MAke a lot of it implausible (like Root talking like a l337 haX0r d00d in the current time frame, even though he's over 80 years old). Realize you have no ending, so concot one in 20 pages and end the book.

I thought I had broken the NTS habit at Snow Crash (which was unremmittingly awful), but then I got suckered into reading Crytonomicon.

The fact that NTS can speak semi-knowledgable about Linux and windows doesn't make him a good writer.

Go soak your head, and pick up some David Foster Wallace.

You've got problems, man. I've heard lots of criticism directed at Bukowski, but none of it as incoherent as yours.

So what happens if you read a book, find it to be great writing, and then afterwards you discover that the author is a drug addict? Do you change your mind about the book?

That's the problem with having such close-minded views on drug use. It's not your fault, the schools are running some awfully intense brainwashing programs nowadays, but most people grow out of it after experiencing the real world. For your sake, I hope it wears off sooner rather than later.

I suppose if you don't like Buk it would be futile to try turning you on to some Brautigan?
