Her Cantonese is far better than her English, unfortunately (she lives with her mom most of the time). But her English is still the best in her class. And she's learning Mandarin, like every other child here. She's learned a little Sri Lankan from her nanny.

If we encourage her to work on her Mandarin, she'll be fully trilingual by the time she graduates high school.

I'll encourage her to learn at least one more European language in high school as well.

I suppose I should say that I most of the images i take are using the Sony V-1. I do use an film SLR (Cannon EF-1) with a variety of lenses but I do so love digital for ease of use and the fact that I don't have to scan the negs afterwards.

Nanning China, we had to pantomime our desire for chicken, this is what they brought out....I didn't mind the head so much, but it was boiled.

Yes, it's in east of the city near the Amstel, but so much of Amsterdam architecture looks the same. Good spot trick fall. Was it the bikes or my name that gave it away?

You've never had Hainan chicken before? Well, didn't you like it? I love it. Not only is it boiled, it's boiled in rice wine. Carries quite a punch. And the onion ginger sauce is delectable.

once through the rubber-like skin it was delicious.

also we were laughed at because our chicken sound was bawk bawk bawk,
and all chinese chickens go cluck cluck cluck.....apparently.

The name confirmed it, but it was the bikes and the architecture. I think I've walked through that area. Between two trips I spent about a month in Amsterdam and did a lot of walking around.

Pretty shitty night shot of Burlington, Vermont but I managed to salvage it a bit with Photoshop.
A shot I took looking down from the top of St Pauls Cathedral

Photoshop to greyscale, duplicate layer and set to Overlay then gausssian blur.

Got it. Thanks! It was actually a bit busy for my desktop, but I photoshopped it into an abstract and I'm using it now. Looks like a bunch of wax.

Done. It's not brilliant, just basic filter work. Gaussian Blur and then Plastic Wrap.

Why does my camera *suck* in conditions like that? I fiddled with the settings all night and couldn't get one decent shot.
get a tripod, or set the camera on something.

it gets mixed results, but one other way is to hold the camera to your eye, then tuck your arms against your torso, turning yourself iinto a tripod, then don't breathe and take the shot.
