anyone have it?

But as a $7000US app this thing is slow, rendering quality is bad, and NO MP support!

ps. I didn't buy this thing....A studio in New York sent me this copy

Leonis,

Come on, give us a better screenshot than that, would ya!?!

Default rendering sucks on any platform...

Are you running on a G4? Or a G3? (I ask, because I see the 'old-school' Apple CRT sitting there on your desk...)
Seeing the keyboard, I'd bet for a G4 since this one is silver. A G3 keyboard is blue-ish.

I have it. MAYA is a bitchgodess.
I'm hoping for the update to make it compliant with 10.1 comes out soon.

C'mon Leonis, do you really have Maya? I see you've got a book, but that screenshot is Cinema4d <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I don't own Maya. It's the studio in New York who has it....I guess I mentioned that before...did I?

Anyway.....I don't really like this app. Very hard to learn and don't know why I can't open any OBJ files

They are still demanding me to learn Maya.....if I don't learn it they won't give me any projects

Well...it's been more than two weeks playing around with it.....still don't get used to it

There are some screen redraw bugs with the app.....maybe OpenGL thing....

Anyway....here's the screen cap with the tutorial I am doing.....

BTW....the installer CD has returned back to them....sorry can't take the pic of them

I just asked them to send me the Windows version of Maya. The OSX version is just so bad working with Maya 4 files even with the conversion script

FWIW I know someone who spent a year getting up to speed on Maya. Visual Artist type.

Leonis, have you tried importing .OBJ's instead of opening them? What kind of problems are you having?
I have been creating Martian landscape OBJ's in bryce5 based on MGS MOLA data and importing them just fine.I succesfully imported one as big as 923mb, it took forever but it worked. I do think its funny that you are complaining about being foced to learn MAYA while other fiend just to see it in action.
BTW, how much did the change of platform cost you? I'm looking into a dual athlon for rendering myself.
I'll throw up an image or two today if I get a chance.

Tried both open and import and still get the 'error reading file' error .....I don't know WTF is with this

I already have a PC but I need to get a better video card.....It's an 1.1Ghz Athlon PC but with a Rage II card, iconic, eh?
