If I buy Quicktime 5 PRO, will I be able to play AVI files (in OSX)? (and I don't mean DivX)

Just need to play some AVI files in OSX.

As far as I know, NO (there is no indeo codec for OS X)- there are extensive discussions of tis point at apples discussion forums -QT section. From memory there is a poster there by the name of Dawn who is very knowledgeable.

The answer to the natuarl corollory to your question (should QT have this capability along with mpeg2, vro etc etc support) is most definately YES.

We can but hope that comming adobe releases and upgrades to FCP will trickle down to QT pro.

Cheers

You can play just about any AVI that wasn't made with a MS product.
